This item is chrome plated brass, not Stainless Steel.

I tried to thread one of these into an aluminum plate (~1/4") but the aluminum turned out to be harder than the "stainless steel" and the gland bent out of shape.

These are advertised as stainless, but they oxidize and end up covered in green fur. Garbage.
