In replacing some damaged motors on various equipment I discovered that the shaft diameters were generally larger than the original motors had. This reamer has worked great to enlarge the bores of motor pullies to fit the new motor shafts. While it's a "hand reamer", I have found that chusking the pullies in the lathe headstock and the reamer in the tailstock and then hand turning the headstock while very slowly advancing the tailstock with the lube pump flushing the pully bore to clear the chips, this has been doing an excellent job. Well worth the small price !

The tuning machine holes in the headstock of my MIM Fender Vintera 60s series Jazz bass were about 18mm in diameter, too small to accommodate the 18.7mm ferrules of the Fender 60s Vintage Tuning Machines. With a little guesswork (there are no instructions included with the reamer, and it seems to operate in the opposite direction of the ones whose tutorials I could find on YouTube), I was able to adjust the diameter of the reamer and to easily ream the holes to 18.6mm, which enabled me to press the ferrules in by hand for a very snug fit.

I needed to ream a few holes to just under 15mm for a press fit of a linear bearing in a 3/8 inch thick piece of aluminum. I would normally do this with a boring head on a milling machine, but did not have access to the machine I normally use. I don't normally use adjustable reamers, but I thought I would give this one try. I was able to get the size I wanted by easing the size up a little at a time. Based on the visible flaws in the blades, this reamer is clearly not a very high quality tool, but it does stay on center and evenly and consistently enlarges a hole to the size I want. Note I run this in a drill press at about 50 to 100 RPM and use cutting fluid. I have not tried this for cutting steel.A note on how these work...the blades sit in tapered slots in a cylindrical backing. You adjust the size by turning the retaining nuts on the top and bottom of the blades, causing the blades to slide up or down in these slots. Both nuts are turned the same direction for this adjustment, loosening one end and tightening the other.

We needed to ream a set of VW king pin bushings. This did the job but did not afford the alignment aspect as the oe style tool does so be careful if that is what you use it for

Worked for my application. Used on brass so can’t speak for how well it will work on steel. Tool seems to be a little rough on the quality but the price was right

No instructions for usage, heavy application of cosmoline causing uneven performance, needed thorough cleaning.Performed okay, after lubrication, minute adjustments were possible.

Needed a reamer to clearance a fitting in my antique car suspension. I figured at the low price,if I only got one hole done, I was money ahead. Did exactly what I wanted it to do, and it's still sharp. I was pleasantly surprised.

I have not used this reamer yet - but should work fine for cutting brass.EDIT: The reamer I received has 6 cutting flutes. SJS

As expected. Delivery was a little slow, but it was shipped from China so that was expected.
