  • Specifications: Cutting Dia.: 3/8"; Tool flute length: 22mm / 0.87"; Overall length: 105mm / 4.13". High-speed steel reamers provide durability, high hardness, good toughness, wear resistance, high temperature resistance, the ability to maintain sharpness over time.
  • Wide Applications: The chucking reamer is designed for accurate enlarging, smoothing or finishing holes in stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, plastic, wood, and other non-ferrous metals, widely used in various parts of machinery such as gears, bearings, bushings, etc..
  • Straight Flute Reamer: Allows chips and debris to escape easily from the hole, well suited for most applications in shallow cuts. Can achieve the required roundness, straightness, and concentricity of the hole.
  • Machine Reamer: Used in drilling machines, milling machines, lathes, and machining centers. Can be used with a wide variety of tool holding systems. Reamers are used for light cut, repair work, removing stock or simply for enlarging holes.
  • Uncoated Reamer Drill Bit: Features just the base substrate without any additional coatings, used on a wide range of materials, including aluminum, brass, copper, mild steel, plastics and composites. Tapping fluid or cutting oil can be used to lubricate the reamer and workpiece to help reduce friction and increase tool life.

Information

Reamers are with one or more cutter teeth. Holes can be with exact size and shape after the reamers' processing. Finished product can be smooth, intact and more beautiful.

Reamers can be used to process holes in small cuts based on guiding function, such as: holes with diameter tolerance in ≤IT8; holes with requirements in surface roughness (≤Rz12 generally); holes with requirements in roundness tolerance; holes with requirements in cylindricity; stepped holes (different diameter holes on the same axis); series holes (diameter holes on the same axis) with requirements in high coaxality.

Chucking Reamers

High-speed Steel Tool

High-speed steel tools are with combination of hardness and toughness for wear resistance. Suitable for most general purpose applications.

Straight Flute

Straight flute tools allow chips to collect in the flutes and can make shallow cuts in most applications. For reaming cylindrical shape holes.

No Coatings

Designed with the base substrate without any additional coatings, good for wide ranges of applications.

Features

  • Used for light cut, repair work, removing stock or simply for enlarging holes.
  • Chucking reamers (machine reamers) are used on lathes, drill presses and screw machines.
  • Round shank can be used with a wide variety of tool holding systems.

Wide Applications

Cut and remove the thin layer metal on hole surface that has been processed, mainly to improve the precision of holes and reduce the surface roughness.Used for semi-finish machining and finish machining of holes.

Designed for accurate reaming in aluminum, cast iron, copper, alloy steel, die steel, plastic, wood, etc.. Use on all types of equipment including screw machines, turret lathes, drill presses and machining centers

Not Good

Made a mistake and assumed it was the exact size without measuring it, was better off using a drill and keeping the same oversize tolerance

Buyer beware! This is described as a 12.7mm (.4999") reamer. IT's NOT!After reaming a hole in 6061-T6 Aluminum that measured 0.5035" (using telescope type hole gages and a micrometer).I measured the reamer using a Mitutoyo digital micrometer and found the average cutting flute diameters to be 0.5015". For the record; The reaming process was done in a lathe at 150 RPM using Tap-Magic Aluminum cutting fluid. The hole was .015 undersize before reaming.A reamer is designed to yield a "round" hole exactly the size of the called out on the reamer, (BTW this reamer has no marking) that's why you use different tolerance reamers for "push, slip and press fits". Buyer be ware!as a side, the three other "verified" reviews for this item were for three different diameters NONE 12.7mm(1/2"). Not sure what "was" verified.

No preservative on the part or "sleeve" to protect it. Non-machined surfaces are corroded.

I checked it with a mic before using and found that depending on which flutes you measured it was .188 to .1885. This is an oversized reamer even though it says 3/16 in the shank. I guess you get the quality you pay for.

Not really good for accuracy

I would give it a .1 star rating if that was possible. No degree of sharpness. looks like it had been sharpened with a roughing end Mill. Returning it.
