To maintain the performance of soldering iron tip, maintenance procedure is recommended:
1. Operate at the lowest possible temperature (800 Fahrenheit/427 degrees Celsius) or lower. Operating at which is one of the main causes of detinning.
2. For tip wiping: Use only (sulfur-free) pure cellulose sponges, wet to the touch.
3. Add rosin core solder of adequate diameter to the working end of the tip regularly.

I bought a cheap, but competent soldering work station (TXINLEI 8586) that came with a collection of rather sorry tips that would corrode rather rapidly, making it difficult to melt and properly flow solder. Oddly, it didn't even have a chisel-tip, which is my favorite style of tip for general purposes.I bought these tips in hope that they would be of better quality, and they didn't disappoint. The tip was easy to tin, and it stayed squeaky clean even without my wiping it. The tip is machined and well shaped. Very happy with it.

I hand-wire all of my custom guitar builds, and consequently, I go through a lot of soldering tips. These are a good buy and good quality.

These seem seem to be maintaining a clean surface and not coroding quickly as has happened to other soldering iron tips I ordered recently. I also like the shape of the tips.
