Your cart is empty.This type of slide gate valve was originally designed for draining tanks and controlling shallow bodies of water like ponds and lagoons. They also can be used as shut off valves in low pressure or vacuum air lines. Please note that each valve size has an open and closed pressure rating. Because the plastic paddle can flex with flowing water they are not good for throttling water or trying to close the valve with fast moving water – thus the low mid flow cut off water pressure of 5 pounds per square inch (PSI). These slide valves are sometimes referred to as “knife or guillotine” gate valves and are a great alternative to ball valves in low pressure applications since they are full flow and quick opening. They work well with soft debris like waste but small hard debris can settle in the bottom of the valve seat/slot and prevent it from closing completely. They can easily be repaired by unbolting and replacing the gate seals or valve body. The handle simply unscrews for easy replacement – if you do so be sure not to damage the valve shaft. Extension rods and cables are available for remote actuation. The Valterra 7201 gate valve has 2" Schedule 40 female slip/hub fittings which receive 2" pipe. The black acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) body and hub fittings are resistant to corrosion and mild chemicals as are the polypropylene (PP) paddle and thermoplastic vulcanizate (TPV) seals. Its shaft is made of 304 stainless steel. Hardware is zinc plated steel. It has a maximum pressure rating in the open position of 20 PSI and 40 PSI in the closed position, a mid-flow cut off maximum pressure rating of 5 PSI, and a maximum temperature rating of 205 degrees F (96 degrees C). Please note: Paddle is slightly smaller than opening to ease opening/closing. Valve seal gaskets block any gaps to ensure no leaks.

It's a solid product. Works and functions like it's supposed to. I use this as a valve for draining a 300 gallon tank. This size of it make it good for a high flow rate for filling buckets or just draining. My only problem with it that made it 4 starts is that the handle is made of PVC like the rest of the valve which makes it prone to breaking. My last one made it about a year before both ends of the handle broke. The valve still works, I just have to have something else to pull it open. All in all a good quality product from a good company.

I bought this gate valve to replace another one of the exact same type that had started to leak. It fit perfectly and I liked the fact that it came in black to match the color of the rest of the plumbing. I had checked all the big box stores and plumbing supply houses in my local area and couldn't find anything like thus. Thank you Amazon!
