I was looking for a diverter valve to block the flow of storm water to an in ground reservoir when full and send it to an outlet to keep from flooding the area. Its normally quite a bit of water, coming from 4 downspouts, 3 french drains, and the runoff from a sloped driveway and walkway. I searched quite a few places and decided I could manage the maual actuation of a gate valve instead of an automated diverter/overflow system that would require more power to be run underground in a 100ft run. The actuation is very simple and smooth and the locking mechanism for the gate is very quick and easy to operate effectively. I'm not sure the true material that makes this product but thus far, it closely resembles schedule 80 PVC in relation to durability in an exposed outdoor environment. I buried this valve to keep with the grade of the incoming water, leaving only the lock and actuating lever exposed above ground. I have this valve attached to 1 outlet of a PVC 40 wye fitting with a 4" PVC connecting the 2. The fitment is snug into the gate and placement of the lip at the gate ensures virtually no path for leaking water. On the outlet of the valve, I installed a PVC to corrugated pipe adapter as my water lines are entirely corrugated pipe up to the wye junction and in subsequent sections as well. No issues on the fitment with the adapter either.The price for this is affordable, especially compared to anything that resembles it. The average price I found for something like this was over $100. The quality of this product, in my opinion, is just as good if not better than the materials professional plumbers and industrial facility technicians use for their work (i.e. the >$100 options). Highly recommend.
