From looking at the photo and then looking up the model number, I figured out prior to buying it that this was not a leather ligature (which I did not want) -- but I just wanted to make it clear to any other shopper that this is a black medal ligature. The design is perfect, I love the simplicity of the single (rather than double) screw, the notched two points of reed contact are perfect, allowing for the right amount of hold while still allowing nice vibration of the reed. My son has been "gifted" at playing the clarinet from the start, but this ligature makes it even easier for him, and has even improved his sound. It's also easier for him (as a beginner) to put the reed on the clarinet with this more simplistic ligature. Being notched to fit the reed really helps to install the reed properly aligned on the mouthpiece. On a less technical note, I think it being black and blending in with the mouthpiece looks cool, too.

This ligature is very good quality sound on the clarinet is very nice with it. I use a vandoren mouthpiece and vandoren reeds so all the parts complement each other.

I love this ligature. I wanted fewer points of contact with the reed and ligature and decided to try this one. It works very well. Sounds nice and allows for lots of vibration.

As a beginner I can only say I like it it’s my first up grade to my clarinet. But as a beginner I did have to look up on how to use it. There was not instructions or paperwork with it. I know others would know how to use it but I didn’t. Has it improved my playing? Can’t say it has really other the I like the screw in the front instead of near my chin.

My son is in the college marching band and tends to need to replace his ligature often. This one is more durable and has lasted longer.

The Tárogató, a Hungarian woodwind instrument, uses a clarinet-like mouthpiece and clarinet reeds. It is super-sensitive to ligature and reed placement, which has the potential to make low notes and altissimo difficult. The LC51BP M/O Ligature improved this significantly, making the whole range of the instrument immediately accessible "out of the case", without the need for lengthy warm-up. It is the best ligature I played so far. I attribute this quality to the unique design to hold the reed firmly on just two narrow lines across the table, allowing it to vibrate to some extent between those lines. You may consider it pricy compared to its minimalistic design, but it is worth it.

I bought the pewter M/O to match a Selmer Centered Tone clarinet with unplated keys, which it does quite well.Compared to the pricier Vandoren Optimum ligature, the M/O is very light and simple. Some may find it flimsy, but I call it delicate. I believe this trait allows the reed to vibrate more freely. There are no fancy interchangeable plates, just two bands that hold the reed in place. However, I prefer to play a Grabner K14 mouthpiece with Légère Signature reeds, which are quite thin. Unfortunately, the reeds are so thin that the ligature’s uppermost contact point doesn’t touch the reed, leaving it free to slide about. Because of the M/O single screw mechanism there’s no way to adjust it. With the thicker Vandoren cane reeds, this isn’t a problem. The Vandoren Optimum fits more mouthpiece and reed combinations because the pressure plate pivots.Overall, it’s a fine simple ligature with an elegant appearance, but beware that it may not fit all mouthpiece and reed combinations.

I have been using Vandoren products for a long time and i purchased this ligature to replace my bent vandoren two-screw ligature that was about 25 years old. This is a great improvement in design because the screw pulls from both sides evenly. The two spots that touch the reed are the same minimal design, recommended by my teacher for the best response and bright sound.

Love everything about this ligature. It's easy to use. The reed doesn't slip while tightening the single screw. Because of the downward sloping front, it fits my Vandoren 88 mouthpiece well without having to clamp too low on the reed. I bought black because it was the cheapest colour but I actually like it a lot. It looks really good.
