I’ve been using these reeds since 1995. When my own child decided to play clarinet in school, I knew exactly what reeds to buy. There was never any question.Vandoren has always produced a high quality tone. I couldn’t imagine buying any other brand.

These are the reeds that my marching band kid swears by. She always keeps a handful of these on hand for herself and to share with classmates. They are a very good quality and I will likely be buying many more.

There is no perfect reed . It is why clarinetists are continually searching for better reeds and are always working on the reeds that they have. Of all the brands and their varieties that I have tried (5-6) these blue box reeds produce the best mellow sound without buzz or harshness. Not every reed in the box will be a winner and most may need some manipulation, but this brand by Vandoren is a good place to start. Beginners typically need to start with lighter reeds. The proper stiffness for a reed is greatly determined by the mouthpiece in use, so a lot of experimentation should be expected..
