Always been my preferred stick choice. The nylon tip rolls so much smoother in my opinion. I play drums in my church usually 2 or 3 times a week. I get a lot of mileage out of these sticks before I need to replace them. Great value

I really like the Vic Firth X5AVG series of drumsticks. They are 16 1/2 inches long which is a half inch longer than a traditional stick. I have a larger kit, and believe it or not, a half inch does make a difference (I have a pretty good idea, what most of you are thinking). The Vic grip does give me significantly more control over the sticks when my hands start to sweat. I would recommend these sticks to anyone that needs just a little extra reach. The review is based on three criteria, “thickness”, “durability” and “for beginners”. I think those are ridiculous criteria to review these sticks. I have been playing for over 40 years and I consider myself to be an advanced intermediate player. I do have arthritis in my hands, so the Vic grip helps. Stick thickness is a personal preference. Durability, is based on your particular playing style, and as for beginners, sure why not. I also think that it’s for an advanced intermediate like myself. I hope this helps.

Perfectly balanced and evenly shaped. The grip is excellent. The extra length if these sticks increases reach without disturbing the fulcrum point.

The normal Vic Firth set would have been better for me. I don't have a drum kit.

My go to sticks past 10+ years. The care taken to create these sticks amuse me. I love Vic firths so much that I use them for many purposes aside from drumming,,even as chopsticks because of the uncanny balance of these.😁

These sticks are perfect for professional playing, whether you play traditional grip or matched grip.I will say, if you are a hardcore or heavier player, you might want to steer clear. A friend of mine borrowed these once and they snapped within 10 minutes. But if you play with less force and focus more on finesse and precision - these are the only sticks I'd readily recommend. Why the four stars? The four stars relate nothing to the product, and only the Amazon's shipping. It got the job done - but they sent these little sticks over in a comically oversized box. If you are opting to order these from Amazon instead of purchasing them at a local music shop in your area - be sure to order more than one pair to justify the excess shipping procedure.Drum on!

These are by far the best sticks I’ve tried. Before these, I used the Promark 747s. I have also used Vater, Regal Tip, Ahead, and Zildjian sticks in the past, and these are the best by far! These have the length, balance, and forgiveness that the 747s used to have before they changed manufacturing process. These usually last me 10 hours of play. In the pictures, you can see that I play the rim a good bit, and they they last long enough for the butt to get seasoned with hand oils. Promarks simply would not last that long- they usually failed at the neck or tip region before I could break them in. The usual place these sticks fail are at the shoulder after extensive abuse. The acorn tips (I prefer the brightness of nylon) give nice warmth, definition, and feel for nice articulate sticking. The longer length (roughly 16-1/2”) give more range options for rim shots and shoulder strikes and provide better balance and feel. No stick is “perfect”- but these are pretty darn close.

They're a lot longer than a regular pair of 5a's and each pair typically lasts me 2 months. I would recommend these for rock or metal. These are not good for jazz; in that case I would recommend Vic Firth's Peter Erskine Ride Stick which sounds amazing in any dynamic range. It really depends on what genre you're playing and what sound you're going for but if you play loud, these are for you. Definitely will continue to buy these whenever I run out!

I liked the length of these . It’s only a tiny bit longer but you can definitely feel the difference . I am tall and long legged which keeps the drums at a distance . With the added length it feels like more power is striking the drum head. It’s like the final snap when u cast a fishing rod . The end of the whip.

Great quality and feel. Lots of practice out of them and great value for money. It’s functional and provides a good grip to stop the sticks slipping. Highly recommend.

But it fits well in hands and the feel is great.

These are recommended for use on mesh style electric kits, which is why I bought them. They also have much less lacquer or varnish on them so they are gripper than the wood tip ones I tried previously.
