My sensor went out that controls the washing machine door. After calling several appliance stores, the price for the part and the service call was too high for me. My neighbor saw the problem, had me order the part and she installed it for free. Taken her less than 10 minutes to switch out the part. Washing is working great.

Had the blinking Lid Lock light and ordered this ridiculously over-complicated part. Was here the next day, installed in 15 minutes and tried to run a cycle-No Dice. Switch works perfect, as did the original one. Select a cycle, push Start, lid lock goes Click, starts the Sensing spin and Clicks, Lid Lock LED blinking. So it doesn't like to spin, can't spin, or doesn't know it is spinning. The only spin feedback comes from an optical sensor and chopper wheel. HINT: The service manual is in a plastic sleeve attached inside the front panel of the washer. The sensor in question is part of the Shifter Assy located under the machine. Pull cover, unplug shifter, remove 2 green screws and wiggle out the Shifter Assy. Pop off the opaque white plastic cover to expose the well hidden culprits. Take that plastic cover and wash it, put it back on. The RPM sensor LED must penetrate TWO layers of plastic and be seen to receiver for the control board to determine if and how fast the drum is spinning. Mine had a brown smear on the cover that the light obviously could not penetrate. (There's that word again.) Put it back in, Calibrated the machine as per the manual and ran perfect. As for the Lid Switch, it came with all parts necessary, even different colored strikers! At a third the price. My two fingers are sore now so that's all I got to say about that. Michael G

Even though my washing machine model number is listedas compatible, the switch on my washer is a 3 wire, Not a 4 wire.I guess I should not have trusted the ad and looked up the part number.Lesson learned,

Working after a couple months still. Have to tug a little when I try open the lid, but that could my install alignment or something. Otherwise functional and all connections are correct size for my Whirlpool
