the radios work well for close proximity, for example the same neighborhood. we tested the distance and after about a half mile, we lost communication. the radios are well put together but very light. they probably would not withstand too many falls. in my opinion, they would work well for retail stores, to give your kids while they are out playing, or light security work in say a nightclub for example. well worth $40.

I saw someone carruying these walkie talkies at my lst cruise and I asked him if they worked for him. He told me he had no issues and that worked even from inside his stateroom. I bought them a week ago and tried them while walkign my dog. My daughter stayed at home and I was able to communicate super clearly 3-4 bliocks away. The sound is crystal clear. I am looking forward to taking them to my next cruise to see how they perform. I know they would do well for a theme park visit, a shoppiung center, a visit to Walmart to keep track of little ones, etc. These walkie takies are a great value for the money. These are only 3-mile radios.
