They're also great for lightly buffing rough wood surfaces to feel smooth again. The benefits of using nonwoven pads is you get an extremely fine and clean hand-sanded surface similar to steel wool but without the mess and risk of rust stains.

Worked great for applying Osmo Poly-x 3011 gloss finish. Cut in to smaller squares and had plenty of material left for future jobs. Much better than 0000 steel wool!

While I primarily use scuff pads for refinishing projects, there are a myriad of other uses you can use these for. In addition to creating a smooth, swirl free finish for paint or polyurethane, these can also be used for scouring/cleaning metal and other uses. Being flexible, they are also perfect for smoothing, polishing or cleaning irregular or curved surfaces. At almost 1/4 inch thick, the impregnated abrasives work very well and does not leave swirl marks like many sanding papers of the same grit do.I normally cut each pad in half, and it perfectly fits my orbital palm sander or, while slightly smaller than a 5-inch random orbital sander, they stick to the Velcro pad adequately to allow polishing with a random orbital sander (when using finer grits for polishing). When it has gotten used and the abrasive material has degraded, they can be washed out and then it becomes perfect for cleaning jobs such as pans, counters and shower door tracks, without scratching themOverall, a quick test of these is satisfactory and I will update their longevity when I begin my next project.

I can't verify the exact grit on these pads, but they're perfect for a couple of things:- cleaning up metal, removing rust without leaving deep scratches- final finishing on wood projectsI most use these pads for the former because I rarely need a super-fine finish on my woodturning projects. But they work very well to lightly sand between layers of shellac.

I absolutely love these and you should buy them now. They are a great value and perform great and last a long time. They give a nice satin finish or with more elbow grease you can get a semi-satin

I bought these to apply oil finish on two cedar gates. They may work better on perfectly smooth wood (like cutting boards and sanded floor boards) However, they tended to leave little pools of finish, and little shreds on some of the rougher spots on the gate when used to apply the finish. I will eventually use them up on my corner sander as a final rub down on other projects (they attach to the hook and loop bottom of the sander quite well.

This set of polishing pads worked well and did, indeed, polish the finish of the products I use them on rather than sanded the finish. I liked that the package came with a good amount of these pads for the price since I can see using them quite a lot for my larger wood projects needing that ultra fine finish that traditionally I used 0000 steel wool on. These pads avoid having to be ultra careful with my cleanup, which I have to do with 0000 steel wool since steel wool fibers can eventually leave rust if not totally cleaned up from the final finish. These pads are also easily conforming to whatever the surface contours are so I can achieve a uniform finish while using it on a larger area with each pass. I used them on wood and metal and each time I could feel the smoothness of the finish compared to the rest of the area not used on. A definite addition to my finishing kit.

These 6 x 9 pads are great! Easy to cut to whatever size you need. Only issue was when I tried some wet sanding with Walnut oil on wood bowls and found that the grey color was bleeding- could be a problem with open grain wood like Oak. Knocked off a star for this reason.

Very rough. Not easy to use. No instructions or labeling. Doesn’t work like I would expect it to.
