Guys,Check your anode rod... almost nobody does it, and then you need to start saving for a replacement water heater and the subsequent install. My anode rod was just corroded to nothing... removing the old rod took a cheater bar on a 1 1/6" socket to remove it... and since it was corroded to nothing, the inner support rod bends pretty easily so I was able to remove the old one. The new one installs pretty dang easily! I really like that there are 4 sections of rod supported by a cable that allows for installs in limited head room basements. Build Quality was great. Main thing to check is that you have a socket to fit on the old anode rod, if not, you'll need one to do the job. Definitely worth spending this money versus buying a whole new water heater! No smell with my install, so that is great and seems to be working well. Certainly a great value considering the alternative.

It was easy to install once I got the old one out where there was nothing left of it. I guess I should’ve changed it at five years will but will buy again from the seller great product.

It's funny how the water heater companies dont use these to begin with but i know, its them just thinking of themselves and not thinking about the home owner. I replaced my parents and obviously had to cut the old one out as most basements dont have 3 ft of ceiling clearance, so this is a great product. price was also good! there are some that do not use the "rope" design which is not good, stick with these or something with the same design!

Have a 10 gallon water heater for a small living quarter that is on well water. The original anode rod was gone within 2.5 years replaced it with the same part number and it slowly got a stronger smell to the point I couldn't take it.Didnt realize there were different rods for diff types or water.Only used 2 of the liinks for my small heater. Was able to separate the other 2 by separating the cable from the clamp with a vice. Will use the other two links when this rod depletes.Smell cleared up in less than 24 hrs. I did drain the tank when installing the new rod.Quality product.

I like the idea of stainless steel cable. I used this to replace a rod whose cable had rusted through at the top.

But I never could use it because I couldn’t get the other rod bolt unlocked, couldn’t get it with an impact wrench, a torque wrench, stuck with the old one till it rots out completely and then I’ll get water heater repair to install this one
