Add more hot water system capacity to your existing water heater and simplify your home improvement projects with the Cash Acme Pro Hot Water Heater Booster with Thermostatic Mixer. Compatible with gas, power vent, electric, and tankless heaters, the water heater booster with tempering valve and gauge mixes the tank’s hot water and cold water from the inlet to dilute the hot water down to a safe temperature of 120 degrees F (49 degrees C) before delivered to fixtures throughout the home. Mixing the hot water with cold water from the main supply means less hot water is required from the tank, therefore boosting the water heater’s capacity and the amount of usable hot water. Increasing the tank’s temperature to 140 degrees F (60 degrees C) or higher will help avoid impurity in the tank. Composed of lead free DZR brass, the heat guard hot water booster features innovative push to connect technology to allow for easy installation with PEX pipe, PE-RT, CPVC, and copper, with no soldering, glue or crimping necessary. Certified to ASSE 1017, ASSE 1070 and CSA B 125.

We moved into a new house a few months ago and the 2 yrs old 50 gal tank in the house was not producing enough hot water for us. I looked into a larger tank and even considered a tankless system but with that estimate exceeding $6K, it was not in the budget. I didn't know a hot water booster even existed until I did some searches on the internet. This product seemed to be highly reviewed and looked easy enough to install myself so I bought one. Well, it turns out that is was exacty what I was looking for to give us more hot water. Took me about an hour to install and after ajusting the temp settings, we were good to go. This solution saved me quite a bit of money for the same result I was hoping for. If you are unsure of whether to get this or not, don't hesitate.... GET IT!

After adding this to my system, I have not seen any loss in pressure, and the water coming out is maintained at a steady 120 degrees, according to the built-in thermometer (I have my GE heat pump water heater set to 140, which is the highest it would go). That seems to be plenty hot for showers and at taps, and it's nice that the temperature doesn't decrease over time as a shower is used, as it did sometimes before. The only real annoyance to me is how tall it is -- that just made it a little harder to install, because I had to bend the copper connector to the water heater quite a bit to accommodate it, and it kinked a little. But, in the end, it all worked, and it was a smooth install otherwise. It was far easier than if I'd bought a standalone mixing valve and the various fittings and pipes needed!

This is my second one. I needed to replace the old mixing valve assembly from my first purchase. There was accumulation of deposits in the fittings from the water tank (it was very thick) that severely restricted the hot water flow from the tank, most likely a water issue. This was after four years of use, so something to keep it in mind, but it is not easy to maintain. When it's working, it works well. My hot water system has returned to normal.

This is a great product to have on your water heater. It allows the higher temperature to be set on the heater allowing for more hot water supply. Also the increase of water temperature kills off the diseases that may grow in your tank. Before I had this valve I would burn often burn my hands, now this issue has been solved. The other great part of this valve is I installed it myself and it works great with no adjustment right out of the box.

Less water pressure so filling my tub is a bit slower, but plenty of hot water now. This is the more expensive model because it has a temperature gage. If I had it to do over again, I would get the cheaper model without the gage, as it is not necessary and is just another part to install. They could have put another gasket in the kit, but I had one so it worked out. Installation went smooth except I was not familiar with Sharkbite fittings and didn't know they turned, so I included a union above the unit. The crappy union leaked and I had to take it apart again. Problem is, the mixing valve has a check valve in it so you can't drain your hot water lines, so breaking that union to fix the leak was a messy proposition.

The cold water side brass T included didn’t have enough threads cut in the brass and the flex hose bottomed out before the rubber could seal. Since it wasn’t possible to rectify the issue without a 3/4 npt pipe thread cutting tool I don’t possess, I was forced to go spend 15$ on a new T at the local hardware store to avoid having to undo all my efforts up to that point.

Had a problem with my new walk in tub having enough hot water even though I have a new 40 gal heater. Was told about this device, installed it and have more hot water than I need. GREAT product.

These units work OK when they work. But having now installed four of them in various rental property locations as well as our home, we are running into failures that could create a hazard for unwary users. The photos show the cold-water input of a three year old mix valve that failed with the white plastic backflow valve partially dislodged and completely blocked, resulting in 140 degree hot water being pumped throughout the building. Fortunately I discovered this before a renter got scalded. Moreover, when I removed the entire mix-valve assembly to replace it with a brand new one, I noticed a buildup of black sludge inside (see photos) which came off on my hand when I put my finger inside. Upon closer examination the supplied combination black rubber seals and particle filters appear to have partially decomposed, which I assume is where the black sludge came from. And it seems likely that the black sludge was also distributed in the hot water supply through out the building.

Simple to install. Two people in a row can now get a shower without the second person noticing a temperature drop. Much cheaper than buying an electric tankless

I cannot recommend this product, the corrugated hose it came with leaks at the plastic behind the fitting. Does not give me confidence in the overall quality of the mixing valve.Had to scramble over a holiday weekend to find a replacement hose locally.**UPDATE** Contacted the manufacturer via the form on their website for support, and no reply a week later... 0 stars.

Revised review: Installed it as directed and seems to work well. Finally able to understand how the valve system works and I am now able to control my water heater temperature with amazing precision. Highly recommended to anyone looking to upgrade or replace a mixing valve, does same if not better job for an amazing price. Also a solution for any concerns with Legionella or anyone having issues with scalding.
