Bought this for the pig trough cause they drain it multiple times a day. Snaps right on the side of the trough. The float works well and does not leak. It’s made of plastic but it has held up really well to the chaotic mess that is raising pigs!

I thought this was unusual that the float came with 4 set screws instead of 2. I like the extra screws except that one gets in the way of the hose unless you tighten it all the way. The other issues is the screws are not long enough to mount on a galvanized tank unless you use both sets.I was also disappointed it had 3/4 NPT instead of garden hose thread, although that might be something all floats have in common. It came with a lot of teflon tape, like several times larger than the rolls at the store. I ended up not using the tape, instead I tightened down the hose end with plumbers putty to seal it. No leaks after that. It shuts completly off when the tank is full. I also recommend you set your water supply to a slow trickle just in case your livestock try to break it and flood the place.Build quality is thinner material than the float it's replacing, so value comes from a servicable drop in quality here.

I added this to a rubber made water trough to keep the cows water full. Works perfect, fit the edge great and has no leaks!

I got this to replace a float on a horse trough that was hanging and no longer shutting off completely. This float seems like a cheaper knockoff than the one I've had for several years. I have it on a wide lip trough and the included screws weren't quit long enough and of course the my old screws didn't fit, but I made it work for now. It works, but I just don't feel like it's going to hold up out in the elements. I hope I'm wrong, but my initial thoughts after installing it.

I have many buckets of water in various pastures for my alpacas, and run garden hoses to them with a connected float on the bucket...this saves me from having to lug around 5 gal buckets to all these waterers all summer long. Setup works great, but as I use well water, and my water is very hard, these floats don't last too long (corrosion, etc.). This is a great replacement for those time when I see my waterers leaking all over the place because the float won't stop the water from flowing... As it's currently winter here, I cant use yet as water is certainly not flowing through any garden hose on my property yet! Will update if problems.

The Stock Water Tank Float Valve is an outstanding fix for keeping the perfect water levels for our livestock. This self-regulating float valve has truly shown itself to be a dependable and effective piece of equipment for our farm.Once it's set up in our water troughs, it guarantees that our cows, goats, and horses always have a steady supply of fresh water without us having to top it off manually. Plus, it's just as useful for keeping pond and swimming pool levels in check, which makes it super versatile. The construction is top-notch, using robust materials that can handle tough use and severe outdoor weather. The setup was a breeze, and the valve operates seamlessly, regulating the water level on its own to avoid any overflow. This autofill capability has majorly lightened our workload and given us peace of mind, knowing our animals always have a reliable water source. It's an essential for any farm or livestock operation. In summary, the Stock Water Tank Float Valve provides exceptional performance and ease of use. It's highly recommended for anyone in need of an efficient water level control system for their livestock or water features.

This float valve is very similar to the kind that I use for livestock watering. The body and float are plastic. The mounting hardware is plated carbon steel.A 3/4" male NPT x 3/4" male NPT fitting is included. It does not fit a 3/4" garden hose fitting. I did not need this adapter for my installation.A roll of very thin pipe thread sealing tape is included. I did not need this. When the valve was attached directly to a garden hose, there was a substantial leak at the joint. The male fitting on the garden hose was not long enough to get a good seal on the valve. I used a brass hose adapter (3/4" male GHT x 3/4" female GHT) which was long enough to make a tight seal. Leak fixed. The water shut-off on this unit uses a round rubber washer as a seal. The washer can be rotated if needed without disassembly of the unit.At the current price of $19.99, this float valve is rather pricey when compared to similar items on Amazon.Durability is unknown, but so far this float valve has worked without issue.

I can't believe I didn't do this earlier. Living in North Carolina, the heat and humidity here are like a breeding ground for mold and algae. We used to have to empty and scrub the horse tanks on a weekly basis. When the weather heats up, those tanks get drained in a single day. It was a never-ending task, sometimes having to do it twice a day just to keep the water clean. But now, I've got this setup with a stock tank tablet, and for the past two weeks, every time I check, the tank is brimming with clean water. I'm curious to see how long it holds up with my inquisitive gelding around, but so far, it's been great. Honestly, it's excellent. assembled and installed it without a hitch.
