i actually bought this to pick my own boots rather than horse hooves. i have boots with deep tread that get rocks wedged deep in the soles, and this works great for pulling them loose so i don't have to break my nails off or throw a boot across the room in frustration. it's a heavy duty and durable metal and i don't think it would bend easily. the grip isn't fancy and ergonomic, but it fits nicely in the hand.
