It is not made of the same sturdy stock I remember as a child, however it is a yard. Would be better if the number 36 appeared at the end, since we are using this for teaching purposes. Clear to read, very straight and about 1/8" thick. Overall, good purchase. FedEx could have NOT thrown it down my stairs though. Potentially, that action could have snapped the item.
