eighteen MOSFET, three speed brushless DC motor controller. label rating is “48/72VDC 1500W” yet each of these MOSFETs are rated to 215W, and there are six of them driving each phase. definitely shunt-able, but i’m only driving a 500W direct drive hub motor and i’m realllllly not trying to burn a winding, because it’s all hills where i ride. that said, it’ll push a very heavy bike (200lb) and me (170lb) and my cargo (typically 20-40lb) at about 22mph with a fresh battery on flat ground. third speed trips the BMS over amp breaker in my battery pack, so only on super low load (downhill) can i occasionally use third speed. acceleration and low speed performance are great, five stars because of the value here. it’s a four star controller at a five star price. it has the hi/lo brake, standard 5VDC hall molex, and throttle, three speed, “security” (which needs to be butt connected to +5VDC if you aren’t using a key lock) and some manner of “alarm” - i cannot remember if it has a reverse lead because i wouldn’t use it if it did. even on long uphill slogs the case stays cool, wiring is stranded copper and of sufficient gauge to carry the currents involved. no instructions will be included and you may need your google translate camera app to laugh at what they call the throttle, but all in all if you are familiar with wiring a brushless DC motor controller for an e-bike or scooter, there’s nothing unexpected here. a decent little box for the money. recommended.

I tested this controller on an ebike build and it works fine. Using with 60 volt batteries. I believe it is 40 amps. I have it as a spare back up now as I replaced it with one that has pedal assist.

I purchased this product twice and received a replacement for the third within a single month. The first two units came in a casing that was sealed around the MOSFETs, requiring an angle grinder to open. The first unit became defective within the first or second day of use. The second unit had a shunt mod already performed on it, which caused my phase wires to melt in less than a day. Like the first, it had the same sealed casing that didn't allow the board to be easily removed. When the third unit arrived, the box was already opened. Given my previous experiences, I decided to inspect it immediately. To my surprise, this one came in a different casing with screws on the side that allowed the PCB board to slide out. However, upon further inspection, I noticed a shunt mod had been performed on this unit as well. The PCB board was in terrible condition, with large burnt and dirty spots. I am now unsure of what to do with it.

This thing is a beast. I’m running this cautiously at up to 1500watts peak on a 500w hub, the only issue I’ve had is that it goes so fast (esp from rolling along to WOT it’s unnerving. With a 48v 14ah battery I’ve clocked it close to 35mph - which I believe is more than a little bit too fast for a bike made for muscle power. It’s not sine wave it’s dirty cheap and powerful and one person liked the noise getting up to speed to that of a tie fighter. It has all of the common features you would expect from a decent controller., if you’re going to run a 500 W hub with a 1500 W controller just be careful about leaning on it for long periods and check it for overheating frequently. Mines been fine so far….. actually one of the longest build s ever held onto thanks to the AirTag helped me retrieve it twice from thieves with the help of LAPD. Just a little over year in service and still going strong..

I just can't understand why these controllers are purposefully devoid of comprehensive instructions and good wiring diagrams. Yes I can see they were built with specific specs in mind, but that doesn't excuse a responsible reseller or jobber from supplying good basic operation manuals. Why are returns so prevalent on these devices, because people don't like quess work and half baked information. Understand, when connectors and wire colors were chosen they must have had something in mind, would it be too much to list compatability information? What throttles does it plug into, what scooters was it made for, is it general use or specific to certain brand types, will it be factory new and tested or a refurbished return, these are thing that a buyer needs to know. OK Fter the 3 primary throttle wires are connected what else is needed, for a throttle switch? For a throttle meter? Where should the yellow turn on wire be connected? Where is it best to connect it? Learning wires, why? Unit us self sensing so why learning wires? To reverse direction? Why dies the controller run in reverse to begone with, sitters and bikes don't go in reverse! Oh it is used on go carts? Say that and what kind of go cart. Why call it learning if it just reverses why not call it reverse wire? Why are there no instruction on why there is a learning wire and how to use it especially if it is not needed and the product is self sensing? I could go on forever with rhis list. Is it really 1500 watts? Why are you not saying UP To 1500 watts? 1000 watt - 1500 watt cod imply you Re maxed out at 1500 watt so at full charge you need a 2000 watt controller for a 1500 watt hub. This whole less expensive China ebike thing is a mess and getting worse!
