I was so excited to order this because I had high hopes it would serve my purpose— provide an economical alternative to expensive Orff instruments and allow me to cue different movements from my students. I expected five different tones with color and character. At first, I thought there was too little difference between the tones, but as I learned to hit it more effectively, the sounds improved. The kids like it and respond, and it is a lot less cluttersome than a large woodblock stand. All in all, it does the trick, but it should be glued better.

The picture is a little deceiving your thinking it bigger than what it is the sound does change but not what you would use in a band. Good for beginners to get the hang of playing wood blocks. But the sound quality just isn’t there
