Very sturdy. I have used this stool, and a slightly shorter version (the shorter version for several years, this one for only a week or two so far)..I occasionally actually use the stool as a "step stool," however, a main use is placing the stool atop a short table and using it as a laptop stand to get the screen up to eye level. It works great for both applications, and I am VERY satisfied with the strength of the stool and the finish which is excellent (making it a pleasing addition to room furnishings)

This wooden step stool is very nice looking and sturdy. Mine came fully assembled - I just unwrapped it and could use it immediately. There are rubber feet on the bottom that keep it from sliding, which is a great feature. My only complaint is that it's not really high enough to help me reach my upper cabinets. However, upon thinking about it, it's probably more meant for people with limited mobility.So, if that's you, you may love this - the step itself is wide and deep. My entire size ten women's foot fits on the step. So you don't have to balance on a narrow ladder-like step. It doesn't move at all - the rubber feet keep it in place. It gives about 5-6 inches in height. It's not very heavy but it's very sturdy. I weigh 174 and it holds me with no problem. It's easy to store, too, which is always a plus.

This stool is very attractive for my bedroom. The wood is very beautiful. It gives just the extra boost I need to help me get into bed and seems very sturdy and nonslip.

I got this stool for my girlfriend, and I honestly can’t say enough great things about it. The design is sleek and stylish, and the overall quality is outstanding.While I wouldn’t have minded if it were slightly taller, it’s still incredibly functional and works well for the space we had in mind.Assembling it was a breeze—the legs were easy to attach with the proper tools and screws to get the job done quickly and efficiently. Strong! Sturdy! Super fast assembly as it came pre assembled for some pieces. The stool is solid wood. I think the price fits accordingly.Thankfully the finish is smooth and polished also, so there is no fright of splinters.Since it is solid wood, it is a bit heavier than expected but that feels like quality lolThe pads on the bottom help it not slip; however its pretty thin. Not sure how long it would last.Overall, it was a small boost to help me get to the top shelf. 5.3 inches looks smaller in person hahahah it is quite short. Dont expect it to boost you up very high. I still use my other taller stool, but this is significantly more beautiful.
