good product but if your truely trying to reduce air from a 4" to a 2", it won't matter what you do, you can't "suggest" air into going into a smaller hole, you must "force" it by using a "static pressure" fan. Static pressure fans actually force the air through. their louder than standard fans but actually work. I recommend a server based static pressure fan so you can feed less voltage to keep some of the noise down but get the throughput you truly need.

Needed this to reduce from 4" down to 1 7/8" for my Ridgid vacuum and the Ridgid hose fit perfectly inside of this adapter. The 4 inch end is the same diameter as the end on the dust hood that I was connecting so I just duct taped them together or it would fit perfectly inside a flexible connection hose and use hose clamps to secure them together.

I used this to convert the dust collection port of my dad's old 12" Delta planer. I had to build an adapter sleeve out of the box it came in, but hey... sometimes you have to improvise.
