These rollers worked great for our kitchen ceiling, so much so that I have ordered an extra set to paint the living room and dining room ceilings. I did not find much texture came off with these rollers; in fact far less than I had expected. Our house is nearly 30 years old and has had years to settle—for the first few years I would daily vacuum up popcorn from the floors that had fallen from the ceilings. So if your home is newer you might possibly lose more of the texture to these rollers but we simply didn’t find it to be excessive in the least. The rollers did occasionally skip over the spaces in between the popcorn texture, and I would find myself having to reload the roller with paint and touch up those areas. Also, be sure to clean these rollers very thoroughly after each use, or you may find the they get stiff and impossible to use, especially if you have been using them with oil-based primer or paint. They do hold a lot of paint, so when I was finished for the day I would don some latex gloves and squeeze the excess paint out of the roller and right back into the paint can. Then I’d repeatedly rinse the roller with mineral spirits since I was using oil-based paint. It usually took several times before I felt the roller was well cleaned of paint and ready for the next day’s use. Overall, I was very pleased with these rollers and won’t hesitate to use them again.

OK - I was skeptical that I could find a paint roller that would cover popcorn ceilings in a single coat. An internet search revealed that "split foam" rollers were the best approach so I got one of these to try. I am delighted by the result. The rollers hold a lot of paint which can be applied to the popcorn surface with very little pressure. In my use, I found that although I had to be careful not to drip paint on the floor as I was moving the roller from the paint tray to the ceiling, the roller did not apply "too much" paint on the popcorn so there were no drips from the ceiling after painting. In addition, since the paint could be applied with very little pressure, there was very little damage to the popcorn (very few "kernels" falling off the ceiling or sticking to the roller). And as a added bonus - great coverage with a single coat. I will definitely be buying more of these since there are lots of popcorn ceilings that need to be painted.

These rollers are exactly what you need for painting popcorn ceilings. I had to repaint all the ceilings in my midcentury home. For the first ceiling I used what Sherwin-Williams had recommended - a deep nap roller. That roller did a very poor job - it took many coats to cover, and left brushstrokes. Dissatisfied with those results, I did some online research and learned about slit foam rollers. I ordered one for the next room, eager to try it out. What a difference! I edged the ceiling by dabbing it with a sea sponge (paint brushes are useless on popcorn ceilings.) Then I rolled on the paint with the foam roller. The ceiling needed several coats, painting in different directions. I then touched-up areas as needed with the sea sponge. The roller did get loaded with lots of little bits that were knocked off of the ceiling. I used a new roller for each ceiling so I wouldn't have to clean out the roller. My ceilings had never been painted before so they really sucked up the paint - it took more than twice as much paint to cover the ceilings. It was a lot of hard work but they look very nice now. I definitely recommend these slit foam rollers for popcorn ceilings.

Good roller for popcorn ceiling but I would suggest buying more than one if you are doing a large room. The popcorn can get stuck in the paint on the brush and make you miss some spots but when you do your second coat it fixes the spots missed.

I love this roller. It's ideal for repainting the doors in my house, providing a smooth finish without holding excess paint. The roller is also very easy to clean and dries quickly. However, a word of caution: don't let the roller dry with anything touching it, as it will form a dent that could transfer to the surface the next time you use it.

It's OK. Didn't deposit much popcorn, splattered popcorn all over. Ended up using a brush and the pat pat method

Acoustic ceilings are probably the most frustrating kind of painting project I have ever undertaken. Last summer I tried to paint the ceiling in my son’s bedroom with another roller that was supposed to be able to do the job, but after three coats of paint, I still found spots that weren’t covered. Finally I learned about this roller and was able to finish the job. This week I was doing the acoustic ceiling in the master bedroom and bought these rollers to use from the get-go. I got an ugly ceiling looking good with just two coats of paint.A few tips if you are using this roller: You will need elbow grease - it requires a firm roll. Don’t go back and forth over anything; you’ll tear up the ceiling. Put down a coat, let it dry for a couple of hours and then go again. Vacuum your ceiling thoroughly before starting to paint, as acoustic ceilings trap a lot of dust and you don’t want to be painting dust. And, use these rollers. I will never attempt to paint an acoustic ceiling with anything else.

roller cover performed well painting acoustic ceilings. Held sufficient paint and offered good coverage. It is a one time use as trying to clean it is not an option as acoustic particles will be embedded deep into the cover material. Well worth the price.

Absolute crap. Didn't work.

Couldn't use it as it doesn't fit the frame. You need a Wooster frame to be compatible. Very disappointed as it cost £17!
