This tape is way better than the other carpet "tape" I've used before which was thicker and therefore didn't keep the rugs as close to my floor as I'd like, and this other "tape" wasn't able to stick to my new rugs because of the rubber textured bottoms (the other tape doesn't have a solid adhesion surface -- meaning it is a mesh-like tape with large holes between the sticky strings that are weaved together to make it into a carpet tape). The XFasten Double Sided Carpet Tape is much more desirable and effective, and it does a fabulous job of keeping my rugs in place. I've had absolutely no movement or slippage of the rugs. The tape has been reliably secure for over a month and a half now.I'm glad I read the questions and reviews before trying to use the product, though, because just as most people have found, it is pretty difficult to separate the backing from the tape. To make it easier, I chose to get a corner started of each piece (using a box-cutter/utility knife) and folded it back underneath itself (please see my submitted pictures) BEFORE putting the tape on the rug. Then when it was time to stick the rug with the tape to my floor, it was super easy and simple to peel off the tape's backing. The only other thing I should note about my experience, is that I have yet to attempt to remove the rugs and the tape from the floor. Based on my previous experience with the above-mentioned first carpet tape I've purchased before this product, however, there definitely was residue and some damage to the hardwood floors in my last apartment when I moved out. This makes me feel pretty certain (especially because this tape is so much stronger/stickier) that there will undoubtedly be at least residue (but I'm not terribly worried because I plan on having Goo-Gone on hand). In conclusion, I recommend this carpet tape as long as you keep two things in mind, be proactive about being successful at taking the backing off, and I highly suggest you might want to consider using a small piece with the floor you'll be using it on -- in a small, inconspicuous spot -- to test for adverse reactions regarding removal of the product.

It's ability to adhere properly was my #1 concern....and so far it has passed the test!! Minor issue with just starting the roll...it was so sticky, it took awhile, so docked 1 star

This double-sided, self-adhesive carpet adheres strongly to the area rug, and to the surface below it. It is nice and thin, so it will not show any unwanted raised or bumpy areas when used. Great value; would definitely recommend. Keeps area rugs in place securely.

Edited 6/2023:The rug tape has held SO well, we haven’t replaced the tape and only now is the tape need to be replaced. The tape is still securely attached to the floor, but my dogs have managed to pull the rug fibers enough to rip the tape from the fibers. Still a 5 star product and highly recommend!Photo of Zena on the rug for reference. We wanted to get a rug for our living room but soon found that the regular rubber “non-slip†backing of the rug was absolutely no match for our black lab Zena running across it, or even the cat honestly. We’ve tried other rug tapes before and they gave out immediately, or almost immediately, and slip across the floor. This tape has been on our rug for probably 7 or 8 months and there’s only one tiny part that’s starting to unstick, although the entire rug is still securely in place. And that’s from daily, rough foot traffic including kids and pets running across it, using it as a stopper when sliding across the hardwood, and so much more. I have no idea how easy it is to remove because we haven’t had to remove it yet, although I imagine within the next few months we’ll need to remove and reapply. Our test for sturdy rug tape is to throw a tennis ball for Zena where she stops running to catch it right on the rug. That abrupt stopping has proven MANY rug tapes insufficient, including at my mother-in-law’s house 😬 This tape has been the only one so far that withholds Zena’s rough play for longer than a week. DEFINITELY recommend this rug tape, it’s Zena proof and far surpassed my expectations!

It does not keep the rug from lifting. I tried placing a heavy item on top, leaving it there a few days. Shortly after removing the item the rug lifted up again.

I have a small area carpet on top of carpet in my living room by the front door. It prevents stains from wet shoes etc. when people come in. However the area carpet keeps sliding and has to be repositioned on a regular basis. This double sided tape is excellent. I put in on the four corners and the area carpet has not moved at all. Best part is that I can run my vacuum over it and it doesn't pull up the carpet.
