We live in northern WY and the Yaktrax Adventure Grip is ideally suited to our winters. The cleats bite into ice better than any of the competitor products, saving painful or dangerous falls. The only issue is that the heel cleat connectors sometimes fail; however, strong wire can be used to restore the connection.

These are the real deal. Our road is solid ice right now. This is the only way I can take the dog for a walk. I’ve tried the others. These stay on - absolutely. Sturdy. These will last and absolutely not come apart!

Some comments stated that they were unable to get them over boots, but I had no trouble. They fit snugly over my work boots, stay in place, and ensure good traction on ice. Great product!

I’m a women’s 10.5, so the medium fits but it’s hard to get on/off

My area didn’t get much in the way of frozen precipitation this winter so I only had one day to properly test these. Though the process is simple enough, I didn’t feel like putting them on outside (or taking them off to go back inside) so I put them on my Danner Tanicus side-zip boots to don/doff on the porch. The tips of the cleats aren’t sharp out of the box (they’re actually nicely polished/rounded) but I don’t believe they’d be particularly kind to hard flooring of any type. The additional height of the cleats was odd at first but after a few steps they felt quite natural. There’s just enough flexibility to allow them to conform to uneven terrain (though this may have been the relatively soft soles of the boots themselves). The boots I chose aren’t exactly made for winter so I wasn’t able to stay out for long. Still, I had a nice little walk and experienced no loss of traction on any of the surfaces I encountered in the neighborhood. The closest I came to falling was when I tried to slide on solid ice. The cleats stopped dead and momentum nearly carried my top half over. Thoroughly impressed (and amused) I made my way home and took the pictures which accompany this review.I really like the storage bag. It’s reasonably thick without being too weighty and there’s plenty of room for the cleats. Together, they weigh 383g (13.5 oz) and take up about as much space as a pair of socks. They’d be a nice addition to an automotive emergency kit or winter hiking (or ice fishing) pack. Thanks, Amazon!

I’m a long-time microspike user. When I first moved to the mountains and hiked in winter, I immediately got another brand that was the only option at the time - that brand has gone up to $75 for a pair anymore! This yaktrax set is an incredibly good value, and they look exactly like my older version of that expensive brand…. Almost… (see difference/improvement in next paragraph). There is one notable difference: this set has 19 microspikes underfoot, where the other brand I use only has 12 spikes. Logic would say “more is betterâ€, and I think I agree in this situation. However, the extra spikes are more in the middle area under the foot, so these may raise your foot up more than a 12 spike set, meaning you may feel slightly less stable and higher above the ground particularly when on ice - it’s such a small difference, I’d doubt you’d think of it though (and likely you’re in a stiff shoe anyways). This set provides great traction and a secure fit, with the size chart being very accurate. I’d buy this set again, hands-down, no questions asked, ha.This set works great, and I really love the design of how it sits on your shoe with a few very thick straps. Honestly, I was sad when that other company moved away from this classic design recently - thank you yaktrax for filling the gap in the market with such a great product!!!

I had tried a cheap plastic based traction cleats, and wanted to get something a step up this season. These are well built snow cleats. The rubber upper is elastic enough for the large size to fit my wide trail shoes (size 12).The chains stay secure and do not make undue noise. The teeth are blunted, but definitely can get a bite in ice. Good heel and forefoot coverage.DO NOT use indoors. The pouch has a cinch and fits in my jacket pocket no problem.
