Yamaha makes plenty of keyboards with weighted, touch-sensitive keys. This isn't one. But it's not priced like one. For a basic keyboard, it feels pretty good, has good sound - actually, many good sounds. They provide a bunch of online help files to aid beginners, and there's certainly no shortage of youtubes on beginning - and intermediate - piano. This unit is light enough and small enough to travel; it runs nicely on a set of AA batteries. The screen is small, but clear and useful. The only knock I can give it is that it's REALLY cheap not to include an AC adapter. Happily, it's pretty forgiving as to power supplies - it seems to handle almost anything in the 12vdc range with a center positive; it will run nicely on well under 1 amp.

This is a perfect option to get a beginner started on learning keyboards. It is big enough that you don't feel constrained while learning but affordable enough so that you don't break the bank on something that may or may not catch on. It also has a good variety of different "instruments" and background beats.

I spent quite some time researching lots of reviews and features for this piano because I wasn’t sure what to get. I thought this one look a little weird and more chunky then I would have liked but that is completely the photo. This keyboard is stunning and lightweight, perfect for anyone! The sound is great and it works excellent with headphones too.

If you don't plan on actually playing piano as your end goal, this is the perfect instrument for getting into music, and learning music theory. Piano players will need many more than 61 keys, and likely will go for weighted key action, which this does not have. There are loads of extra options in the settings menu, where you can adjust the tuning, reverb, octaves, and pretty much everything imaginable.I bought it because I began learning saxophone, and needed to learn music theory. The most important features for me was that it is portable (stand alone), has MIDI input, velocity based keys, and transposition. Lots of lower end keyboards do not support transposition, and it's great that this one does. This way I can play my sheet music written in Eb, without having to transpose it to C to play on this keyboard. The good:+Velocity keys make it so that the volume of the key depends on how fast you depress it.+MIDI via USB (it uses the "printer cable" type, AB 2.0 which you have to buy separately). It will show up as a MIDI input device, as well as a USB audio output device. This allows you to use the keyboard with a variety of computer software suites, games, etc.+A single pedal input is supported for sustain.+A detachable music stand is included.+A song book is available which works with the preprogrammed songs for learning. This is great, except you have to download the 200 page book from Yamaha's website, and print it out yourself (or view it on an electronic device).+The keyboard has modes to help you practice rythm and fingerings, so you can play along with the preprogrammed songs.+It has record and playback, so you can use that if you like. It saves to internal memory. The bad:-The 12vDC power supply is not included. However, you can use ANY standard 12vDC center positive adapter. I had a few lying around, as it is the most common power supply for consumer electronics. 1 amp is plenty. It runs on AA batteries, and you can use rechargeable, just set the battery type to NIMH in the setup menu to prevent it from powering down due to the lower voltage.-The contrast on the LCD screen is not very good at most angles.-There are no letterings for notes on the keys, though you can do this with stickers, or by writing on tape with a pen.

When my son said he wanted piano lessons, I thought to myself where am I going to pull a piano out of for him to play. When the teacher told me he didn't need a full size keyboard and that all he needed was a touch sensitive one, I found this one. It has been a dream to play and he absolutely loves it! He is 5 and it is just the perfect size for young children!

Live this for my beginners! Does so much for one keyboard, you will not get bored with the possibilities. Only drawback is that it does not come with a power cord, which it should at this price.

The built in speakers are garbage. Very little surprise; what would be expected from two speakers that are designed to run off of six AA batteries that are also powering the electronics? My intent from the beginning was to use it with headphones or connected to my receiver, which works perfectly and has kept me happy. So, as long as you aren't expecting good sound form the keyboard directly, you won't be disappointed. As a side note, geese are far superior birds in comparison to ducks, objective science fact.

I'm new to keyboards and pianos. I can provide feedback only for quality of sound and build quality which are very good. Just spend more time on keyboard to learn if fast and easy. All the best with this new keyboard.I see several buyers wrote feedback that Warranty is not applicable for those who bought it online. I made a research before buying online on Amazon.I first called Amazon customer care and they confirmed that warranty is applicable on Amazon products also which gave me confidence.I next called a authorised service center in Hyderabad (place where I live) he mentioned he didn't get any instructions from Yamaha and he suggested not to buy it online and get it from a authorised seller.Confused, leaving a thought to buy online even we have offers in Amazon. I have contacted Yamaha India customer care and found to know that this Yamaha product is provided with 3 years of warranty provided we have the invoice and the warranty card in it.I have both emailed and got a confirmation from phone.(Yamaha India customer care Ph number +91 124 485 3300)If any of the authorised service centre doesn't accept the online purchased item you can call the above number and they are going to send out an email confirming that the service centre can proceed with servicing.I also received an email from Yamaha India as follows confirming warranty is applicable.Yamaha Customer Support Mon, Oct 21, 4:22 PM (7 days ago)to meDear Sir,Thank you for your interest in Yamaha !This is further to your email query below , we do support online sellers and warranty for a PSR-E363 model is for 3 years only and production registration is currently not available in India for Yamaha products .for any kind of product warranty support , we would request you to preserve the copy of purchase invoice and warranty card .product can be purchased either online or offline and no offers or benefits depends totally upon the seller as from Yamaha there aren't any special benefits being rolled out.we hope the above information helps you.Assuring you of our best services.Regards,Yamaha SupportI also see a review that the batteries didn't work for some of the keyboards. I didnt' face any issue with batteries. I strongly recommend to try with batteries as and when you firstly bought the item. This item have 10 days replaceable policy which helps you to get a new product if its defective.I hope my research helps many who are thinking that warranty doesn't apply to items bought online. These days even for heavy equipment like Fridge, washing machines, TV's the warranty is applicable and the brands take care of their products very well. Lets not worry about the warranty and order this keyboard.
