Overall, a pretty great cheap recorder! I have some musical experience from playing the viola and piano, but I have never played a wind instrument before. In spite of this, this recorder was easy to pick up and learn, and I was able to quickly figure out a major scale on it. At first, one of the difficulties with this instrument (from the perspective of someone who has never played a wind instrument, this may be subject to change depending on one's level of experience) was the fact that the fingering and articulation were not very forgiving. If I did not fully cover up a hole (and I mean fully as in pressing down hard on it) or did not blow with enough force/blew with too much force, the sound quality and intonation suffered. Over time, this intuitively became less of a problem. The other concern is that the highest notes of the recorder are not in tune. This may just be a problem with my instrument specifically, since these are mass produced and there is discrepancy in the quality of each instrument. Overall, for a few bucks, it's not a bad thing to pick up to play around with, but (and I shouldn't have to say this) don't expect to perform concerts at Carnegie hall with this.

This comes in one piece but is jointed into three sections -- a good thing, allowing some tuning and more importantly, lets you adjust the instrument for the individual player.What intrigues me is that the tone and range compare very favorably with Yamaha's plain non-translucent model. I expected the cuter looks might have a cost in how good an instrument it is, but it's at least as good as the plainer model. In fact, comparing two examples of each type, the tone seems a little better on the translucent recorders!A full two octaves are easily reachable (I don't usually test play past high a, but I just happened to keep going and this recorder went with me), though it's thinner and shriller in the highest few notes (this is always true to some extent and for the price, this cannot be counted against it. Count for it, instead, that the highest notes are easy to reach.)Recommended for beginners and for more experienced players who want to take a recorder along on a hike, camping, whatever.

Fun spin on the recorder. My daughter loved that it was green and see-through. Recorders are not the most beautiful thing to hear, but this one does have a nice, strong sound.

Great for kids or people with low lung capacity. Very durable, decent sound, super easy to clean and it looks cool. Great for introducing kids to musical instruments if you do not like all the electronic ones. Only issue i have is that its not easy for an adult to play. I played one as a kid and remember having to get the air flow through it just right to get a good sound. This one seems like it needs almost no air flow to get that right sound and it makes it difficult for an adult to use/demonstrate with.

It's clear and loud. My son is two, and doesn't have the coordination to use the holes yet, but after a short learning curve, he whistles on this thing like a pro now lol. I love the value for the quality, it's a clear sound, and even my husband had fun making songs on it. We call it his "whistle" because "recorder" is a little difficult for him to say yet. I know it'll last a long time, the plastic is durable, and it doesn't feel like it'll crack any time soon.

Bought this item and it sounds great and it’s very durable. Literally one of the best out there for your money bought this for my stepson and if it can survive a 5th graders daily use and wash that says a lot. Dishwasher safe and easy to clean in this way

I literally had zero excitement when I got the notice that it was recorder time for my sons 4th grade class. Def had some flashbacks of my mom yelling at me many moons ago with hot crossed buns and Mary had a little lamb on high pitched repeat.. however it’s a cool color and it did its job for a cheap price so 5 stars
