The middle plastic piece slides into place quite easily - better than another one of these yarn winders that I tried, and the operation is a bit quieter than the others. The clamp on the table isn't necessarily the sturdiest, but it is on par with the other winders of this type that I've tried. This is very handy for knitters & crocheters, and the accessories are a nice bonus. If you intend to do wind industrial quantities or very large cakes, you might want something larger or more substantial, but this serves its purpose well.

This is a yarn winder for turning skeined yarn into center-pull yarn "cakes". It comes with some accessories: a thread snip scissor with blade protector, stitch markers (assorted colors), and tapestry needles (all mine were red). This winder clamps onto the edge of a table up to about 2" thick. The clamping surface is only a little over one inch long, so it works best on tables with a square or almost-square edge. It would not work well on a rounded-edge table. We found it clamped tightly to a folding "snack table".We placed the skein inside a 5-gallon bucket on the floor. When winding, the skein tends to dance and bounce a lot, so the bucket keeps it contained. We pulled the yarn end up to the table and through the yarn guide arm. The instructions described how to put the yarn through the yarn guide arm by winding it around the loops but we could not understand that direction, so we just pulled the yarn end straight through the guide loops. We attached the yarn to the grip slots on the center cylinder. Then we wound up a yarn cake as fast as we could turn the handle.————————PLUS POINTS:1. It works best with thinner yarns.2. The yarn cakes wind up smoothly and evenly, with the yarn showing in a criss-cross pattern.3. The yarn guide arm is on a swivel and can be positioned on either side, so this may be used either right or left handed.4. The scissor is sharp and works fine on yarn, especially if you stretch the yarn a bit so there is some tension on it. The blade protector is nice and large and won't get lost.5. One of the stitch markers may be used to secure the outer end of the yarn cake so it won't get unwound.————————MINUS POINTS:1. The wing nut on the clamp only comes with a flat washer. Adding a lock washer will keep it from loosening during use.2. The listing claims 20 needles are included, but there are only 10.————————OVERALL:This is a quick way to make lots of yarn cakes, saving the labor of winding them by hand. We rate it 4 stars, discounting one as we couldn't figure out their instructions on threading the guide arm.

The Ayasee Yarn Ball Winder is a typical 4 ounce winder for making center pull yarn cakes. This type of winder has been around since the 1990s. The Ayasee winder is a decently made example. The trickiest part of this type of winder is securing it to a table because the nature of the design causes it to wobble and shake loose. The Ayasee winder uses a typical C-clamp type mounting that is shown clearly in the product listing photos. The clamp held well on a marble countertop. The operation of the winder was smooth and fairly quiet. The included thread snip scissors cut well, something that is not true for many scissors of this type. The included stitch markers and plastic tapestry needles are a nice bonus.

This is a good budget option if you just need to ball a couple skeins every now and then. If you are amore dedicated yarn enthusiast, you may want to spring for a slightly better quality one and highly recommend a swift, whether separately or as a combo. Without a swift I constantly had to stop and fix mild tangles and minding the original yarn bundle. The clamp is just not that sturdy and secure. It comes off somethings from the turning of the knob to work the winder. The body is a tiny bit small, I did a standard ball and it was struggling to stay on there towards the end as the ball was getting a bit too large for the machine. That being said, it worked and got the job done. If you are looking for an affordable machine and you don't think you will use it more than once or twice a month, this will work just fine. If you are a big knitter or crocheter, like my friend's, you might want to go for something a bit more robust. I think I would have given it a solid 4 if the clamp was better and sturdier. the spool being larger is a minor gripe as it still fit, even if it was having trouble at the top near the end of the skein. so I would go with a 3.5 if I could. The added notions are cheap and honestly I wont use them, so I will not factor them negatively in the rating as I se them as a freebie.

1) Putting it together is so easy. Just clicking 2 things into place.2) Clamping it to a table is easy. Even having issues with my hands I can still get it to clamp enough to the table that it does not move.3) Easily set up and used. It was actually fun.4) Look at that Ball. I used am number 6 size yarn for this ball. Since its an odd size, I was not positive of the outcome, but look.I am going to rewind everything I have so I can stack them more easily in their cubbies and see just what I have.

The Ayasee Yarn Ball Winder is a practical tool for knitters and crocheters. Its hand-operated crank works smoothly. It creates neat, full yarn balls without them being dense. The tabletop clamp isn't as robust as I would like but it serves its purpose. The spinner is relatively quiet, easy to use and unload.

This yarn ball winder set up easy on my table with the included vise. It was easy to attach my yarn to the winder and in no time I was organizing my yarn into nice size balls that are much more efficient to use than the spools of yarn. The winder is very durable and does not feel shaky when I'm using it at a rapid pace.

Better off finding a better one here mine wouldn't stay latched to any table no matter how hard I tightened or how I positioned it... wasted a whole day looking up ways to fix it..
