Zebco has made nice reels at decent prices for decades. I sell fishing reels for work and I recommend this reel to people who want a spin cast reel. This is a smooth quality reel at a great price. I bought this as a gift for my mother and she loves it.

I've been using Zebco 33's since the early 1960's, and I used all the features. This new model has no reverse reel wind feature, and no clicker/alarm to tell you when it's unwinding--and I rely on those two features when I set a reel down. They tell me when a fish is taking line out, while not providing very much resistance so the fish can tell there's a danger and drop the bait or hook. Still, if you don't need that feature, this is a fine reel, although colder to the touch, and heavier to hold, than the old 33's from 60 years ago. I appreciate the double handle. I'd prefer the drag be a star wheel on the right side instead of a knurled wheel inset into the top, but I can live with it. Be prepared to occasionally have issues where the line's trapped inside by other line, resulting in casts that hang up slightly internally. It's a spincasting reel standard problem. A little reel oil right on the line can help free it up for casting.

I am not a fan of these types of reels but I needed something better for my kid. Hes ok with a spinning rod but can't cast the farthest. Hes not quite ready for a baitcaster. Put one of these on a 6'6" MH fast rod and that kid can cast a mile with this reel. Caught a number of fish and he does really well with it. This isn't like one of those junk toy reels at all. I am pleasantly surprised.

I got this reel for my son’s rod and it has been great. We bought a combo since he is 9 and prefers the button release still. Original reel broke first time out so I replaced with this and he thinks it is the best pole out there.

I currently run this reel on 7.5ft rod and it is great to cast. The only thing to watch for is the Platinum has a higher reel speed than the normal 33. If you reel too fast, the fish will think your bait is on a jetski.

It's an upgraded version of the base model 33N. Same profile and fit as the base model, with these differences:All metal construction (makes it a little heavier overall)Bearings instead of bushings gives smoother retrieveUpgraded design of the catchpin mechanism in the spinner cone with a bearing to activateThe Platinum does lose the antireverse switch and bait clicker, so if you use that you may want the base model insteadEven the base model is overbuilt for my purposes. Taken from an email I sent Zebco...I bought this reel last month (May 7th, 2024) on Amazon BECAUSE it was a "Platinum" and it's officially the worst and most disappointing Zebco product I've ever owned in over 40 years as a Zebco Customer. I THOUGHT that, since you named it "Platinum", it would exceed the 33 in build quality and function but I was very wrong. It seems to just be a regular 33 with a bigger gear ratio (not properly done apparently) AND a silver mundane quality paint job. I have an Omega that I love and thought this would be somewhere between the standard 33 and my Omega and it's worse than an old rusty 33 from the 70s I had when I was a kid.I've lost TWO EXPENSIVE LURES because of the sudden stopping on casting issue it has. The first lure was a SPRO Creeper that cost me a total of $24 with shipping and a River to Sea Large Phantom Shad Whopper Plopper that also cost $24 when I got it. So the reel has officially cost me more in lures than it cost me to buy. AND, this all but ruined my Father's Day fishing trip that my wife planned for me. All of this is unacceptable...full stop.Upon further research this evening, I've discovered SEVERAL Amazon reviews mentioning this issue specifically and it would appear that you need to resolve this. There is no good reason for it, only excuses. Research and development should have caught it and it feels like a rushed product anyway.Also, since this IS a new product with an as-of-yet unresolved design flaw, I do not want a replacement as it will likely have the same issues. I'd like to be refunded the cost of the reel, as well as the lures lost AS A DIRECT RESULT of that design flaw. The reel cost me just under $30 after tax and with the two lures at $24 each, that's a total of $78 that I need from Zebco.****UPDATE****I contacted ZEBCO since I was beyond my Amazon return period. After THREE DAYS, they replied to my email just to refuse my request for a refund and reimbursement of my reel and lures.HOWEVER, they ARE replacing my defective reel with another. They gave me A CHOICE of another Platinum or a Delta. I decided on the Delta size 30 and they are shipping it to me now.So, not the outcome I hoped for BUT, it's more than I thought I'd get. I'm raising my review up from 1 star to two because ZEBCO stepped up a bit but, this reel is still not one I can recommend.

el carrete esta hecho de buenos materiales y lanza muy bien, el problema es cuando la linea tiene un poco de resistencia o ligera tension, se vuelve muy duro para recoger. Si ganchas un pez de buen tamaño se vuelve imposible de recoger, tengo diferentes modelos de spin cast y solo a este le pasa eso.
