I got this for my son in law. He loves Asian themed items. He really liked it. They like to hit the gong when they have friends over for dinner. Everyone gets a kick out of it.

I was trying to decide between 3 & 4 stars. I LOVE IT! BUT...it is delicatly made. I read another review of the string breaking, before I bought it. So with that in mind, I handled it super careful & delicate. It is so cute & actually had a nice sound for sound therapy, but I used a foam wrapped mallet from one of my hand drums & a rubber mallet, instead of the wooden one that comes with it, & it has a very beautiful tone with the foam, as well as the rubber mallet. If they had stronger string & a better mallet, I would have totally given them 5 stars! It looks so beautiful sitting on my counter!!!

Bought it for a Japanese dinner party. Don't expect a deep gong sound, it's a higher pitch...but it's found a second life to accent announcements in the house!

Although the price of this product is good, it is not very good quality. It could used a lot more thought and detail. It basically gets the job done. It is alright for display but it needs so work if it is going to be used. One string is much longer than the other making the gong lean to one side and not work properly. If this was fixed and there was some better quality control this could be a great product but at this time I cannot recommend it.

Looked exactly like the picture. My only "complaint" is that it's a little high pitch not as low of a gong as I thought, as the shape is very shallow.
