This was ambitious for my first project, but I loved it! Like other reviewers have said, the Doors of Murin were very challenging as the hot pink color and reddish pink color look identical. I had to continue looking at the reference photo to make sure I was not messing up. In spite of that, I am still leaving 5 stars. This was well organized and designed. It kept me busy for hours and hours and it was the perfect amount of challenging and relaxing.

I’m definitely not a beginner but I think this set is perfect for all levels of experience. Includes everything you need and plenty of extra thread. I’ve had so much making these.

I've had a fun time doing these cross stitch patterns so far. This is my first project ever. I have not finished them all yet but it seems like there is enough floss and the kit contained all the essentials to get started. There are a few instructions but if you are a beginner I recommend watching a tutorial first. My completed bookmark looks awesome.I have to detract 1 star for a couple of issues. First, some of the pattern colors are too similar that you really need to scrutinize to tell which is which. I have this listing bookmarked to look at the reference pictures. Second, the backstitching colors on at least one of the patterns is completely wrong. I had to rip out a bunch of black and redo it after checking the listing. Finally there is no information given for how to finish the bookmark (ie, attaching the felt, etc). I had to scour several YouTube videos to see what I needed to do with the materials given. Haven't done this part yet so hopefully it's not a disaster.Overall this is a good product.

The materials are good quality and there is plenty of floss, provided you aren’t super wasteful (if you have half a length of floss or more, maybe hang on to it and use it on another bookmark). The designs translate well into cross-stitch, the felt backing is easy to apply and seems sturdy enough to actually use. The downside is that the colors and symbols can get confusing (similar symbols are printed in too similar colors, making it hard to follow in some places) and figuring out the backstitching is awful. Do not throw away the paper pattern, because you will wind up needing it. Even with those caveats, this was a very enjoyable project and I would pick up more from this company, though I don’t think I would recommend them to a novice cross-stitcher.Edit: One star was removed because one of the pieces (the doors of Durin) was printed on warped cloth resulting in the design being so misaligned that it could not be completed. As I had already completed the other designs, it can't be returned and there seems to be no way to simply replace that one part. Double check your printed canvas before starting to make certain that the printing lines up correctly.

I bought these for my 13-year-old son who has never stitched anything in his life until recently taking a leatherworking class at school and had to do a running stitch one day. That being said, he has never cross-stitched before. I've attached a picture of his first project. This pattern can be hard to read sometimes, but the stamped fabric makes this so very much easier than a counted cross-stitch. There are a lot of stitches, but a beginner can do it. My only desire is for them to make a better instruction page. He had some questions that I helped him with. Don't let that deter you. This is VERY cool.

I love the designs, but when I was working on the Mordor design I discovered that the kit included the same exact color floss for pattern colors #38 and #39 (see above where the two are stitched next to each other, versus the product photo that clearly shows they're different colors) and unfortunately there's no way to fix this since I don't know which is the "wrong" color or what the right color should be, and I can't take it the stitches without ruining the floss (although it doesn't seem to be the greatest quality anyways) so I probably won't have the right color to complete it, which is disappointing.The pattern isn't quite aligned with the fabric, and some of the colors are hard to distinguish on either the fabric or the printed pattern, but so far when referring to both I've managed to do OK.The one that I finished with no obvious problems is pretty cute, though.

The background for each bookmark has visible lines and writing—I filled in the whole background with stitches to cover—but I think I was supposed to wash them. This was not specifically stated—at least I didn’t see it.The full stitching came out nice! But I did have to purchase some extra thread.

I bought this after starting to cross stitch. I have already done a few beginner projects. This is a little more amateur rather then beginner, imo. The colors are fine and chart I could figure out but my issue is the size of Aida and flimsy-ness of it. I cannot hardly see the holes and squares are too small for newbies still learning the stitches. I’ll do a few more beginner projects that are larger Aida before I try to tackle this again.

Could definitely use a larger chart but there is more than enough material for all five projects. The key is correct (another review says 40 is supposed to be purple, NO the symbol for 40 is purple. The materials provided are correctly labeled.)Doesn't list anywhere how many stands to use for back stitching. I used one but for the next one I'll probably try two. There was enough material that I also back stitched around the whole thing with one stand of black which I feel really tidied it up.Overall I highly recommend this kit.

Ho semplicemente adorato questo kit, le istruzioni sono facili da seguire e davvero impressionante. L'unica cosa che consiglio é si non seguire la fase di "messa in acqua" per eliminare l'inchiostro perché con il mio primo segnalibro il colore stingendosi ha intaccato le parti in bianco rendendole rosa. Non ho provato a vedere se con un acchiappa colori funziona meglio madirei che anche senza quel passaggio si può realizzare il segnalibro finale.

Loved making this and love the finished product!First I tried cold water and the ink ran but I soaked it in boiling water and saved it! Bigger print on the paper pattern would be good and better instructions for soaking
