I doubted I’d get usable JFET’s off Amazon, but wondered how bad it could be. Pretty bad. 8 of the 10 tested as “2 diode junctions†on the Peak DCA-75. 2 tested as n channel jfet’s but the pinch off voltage was around .34 volts. Quite a bit lower than a typical J201 should run. They’ve got a Fairchild silkscreen on them, but I doubt that’s the case. On any components like these, particularly NOS or out of production, use reputable suppliers.

I was a little skeptical when ordering these, but they seem legit. Measured I_DSS of around half a mA and -V_GS(off) 0.8-1.0 V.

These transistors are somewhat hard to find, and can be fairly expensive. This seemed like a really good price for 10 of them. The good news is that 4 of them were perfect, testing well within spec. The bad news is that 3 of them were far enough out of spec to be unusable, and the other 3 were not functional at all. Since I only needed 4 for my project (phew!), I went ahead and used them, discarding the other 6. Three stars, because they filled the need, but with nothing to spare.

I don't like being lied to. Advertised as j201 jfet. All they are is bjt. From the forums on the net this is a continuous accurance from here. Apparently you don't read the feedback.

Put four of these in a pcb pedal board and none of them work…signal never makes it through to the bias components. Whatever’s these are, they most certainly are not JFET transistors.
