This tool eats up the metal. I had to enlarge a whole in a car strut in order to align the camber. It took about 10 minutes and the whole was enlarged to where I needed it. I would recommend.

This spiral cut tapered reamer by DeckRkat is ¾†diameter and made from M2 high speed steel (HSS). It features a non-slip shank that can be used with any 1/2" drill chuck. I've used straight flute reamers for hole finishing but this tapered reamer is ideal for removing more material and you can start with a much smaller hole. I generally prefer to cut a hole that is only about 1/16" undersized when cutting steel through-holes but the length of this reamer requires enough clearance beyond the hole opening to be sure you hit the target diameter of the reamer. With this ¾†reamer, that would be about 4â€. Unlike a typical twist drill, the spiral cutting flutes are designed to push the cutting chips away from the hole opening.This has multiple uses for creating dimensionally accurate holes but this ¾†size requires a slow cutting speed to ensure a cleaner cut and to prevent overheating. Cutting oil would be recommended if you're removing a large amount of material in steel but it generally doesn't hurt to use it with softer metals too. Under a magnifier, the blade edges do appear to be rough along some parts of the cutting edge and this will manifest an inconsistent cutting effect as you push through the hole. For some jobs, this may not be a big deal but I would have expected to see a consistent sharp edge along all cutting flutes. The reamer comes complete with a protective case and at the current price of $31.98, I'll give this 4 stars.
