I have a couple of these wave drums in different size, and I'm of the opinion that they're a great addition to any studio looking to fill out a percussion cabinet. They take a bit of focus, but you can coax some great sounds out of these things!

I like this and I enjoy using it. I don't quite get ocean from the sound, though. For a drum like this, one distraction from hearing the ocean waves is that all the metal balls tend to hit each other at the end. The tiny sounds they produce would be more appropriate for heavy rainstorm noise than the end of an ocean wave. Second, the pitch is wrong. The noise is to high to my ear to quite sound like a wave. The sound is also a little too dulled to be quite right. If you're imaginative, you can hear the ocean, though. The closest sounds are when you barely tilt the drum and the beads slowly roll over the plastic drumheads. Construction seems fine although I'm sure it's delicate. For appearance, the manufacturer photos give an accurate representation. Apart from minor scratching on the plastic, there weren't any nasty surprises like gouges or ugly, rough edges of binding that looked bad. If you're getting this to use while meditating, please be aware that you have to pay a reasonable amount of attention to how you're holding the drum to get anything like ocean sounds from it. I've tried meditating with this and I end up tilting it too much and clattering all of the little beads together.
