It took me several attempts to decide to buy this, due to all the negative reviews. Having assembled it, I now think that most of the negative reviews are by people with limited assembly experience.Yes, the instructions are hard to decipher and full of inconsistencies. Just like every other imported item I have purchased. It took two sessions, but I now have a working awning that is equivalent to one costing several times more. It IS a good product. If you're not good at assembly find a friend who is. DO NOT build this on the ground. Use a table (ping pong table like I did) or sawhorses. Anything to get it up to a workable level so you don't suffer any more than is required.Issues I had.The instructions use metric and inch measurements interchangeably like they're the same. ??? That's darn confusing until I picked up on it.Lots of scrapes from the screws that the factory installed. The "roller splice" screw holes were stripped out.The "front bar" was missing screw holes for the M4 screws at one joint. One "arm" had a slight dent and scratches. All in all, pretty normal stuff. This awning is a great value, and I highly recommend it.

We liked the awning very much. One thing was we were missing a couple screws. Second thing was we felt you should have a video on putting it together. The instructions were terrible. Instead of it taking 2 hours to put it together it took 5. Your instructions said it would be easy BUT it wasn’t…

Why do we purchase products on Amazon? It's because we get great stuff at Excellent prices! When it's not an Amazon stocked item such as this ...it's the sellers responsibly to make sure everything is perfect. This seller is top notch Excellent! My awning had a really rough trip and arrived damaged....absolutely no fault of the seller.....but they asked for some details and pictures and shipped a replacement ASAP even before I got all the pictures to them! This seller and product are both excellent. The paper instructions are a little difficult to understand completely but make perfect sense when you watch the recommended assembly video. You definitely get more than your money's worth...and add the excellent customer service and sellers response time...and this is a best buy! I am about to order a second awning from them today! This is what you are looking for! Buy it! You won't be disappointed!

Hard to understand instructions and pictures. Finally installed it and love it. Replaced an umbrella. We roll it up in high winds and put it away in the winter. Always rolled up when not home.

To begin with, the instructions are hard to understand, and are written in very small print. That said, the main issue is that this product is not designed well. After installing the fabric by sliding the fabric liners through slots on the roller bar and the front bar, the instructions say to install a fabric bolt (P) and tighten the screw. Here’s the first problem - the screw just spins and does not tighten. Then a couple steps later, The awning arms are connected to the “arm-bar links†which are slid into a channel in the front bar. The instructions say “Tighten the screw nuts on the arm-bar links and then fix the links and arms with another two screw nuts (which don’t exist or have anyplace to be affixed). Note: Do not fuly tighten the screw nuts leaving about 0.15 inch space in betweenâ€From what I can gather, the arm-bar links are supposed to slide inside a channel in the front bar (which is why the instructions say to not fully tighten - I THINK). The screw bolds holding the arm-bar links in the channel are not designed to not be fully tightened (they loosen and fall out). Also, the arm-bar links don’t slide smoothly in the channel even with the screw bolts removed. This causes the front bar to shift to one side and push the awing out of the front bar because the screw on item (P) discussed above does not tighten. The instructions say to call customer support for assistance, but there is no phone number or email address included in the instructions. The instructions also say there is a video available, but once again its location is not provided in the instructions and I cannot find it on YouTube.I worked on putting this together for 4 hours and give up. I returned the product.

Excellent product. I damaged the front bar because I had the arms upside down. To help the next person, maybe place a sticker on them saying "this side up" or "right" and "left". There is one information sticker on the arm, but I didn't see it until my wife pointed it out - Arh! LOLThe Seller is working with me to obtain a new front bar. The awning works fine, just aesthetically it looks bad. Again, excellent product, just pay attention to the direction of the arms.

The Instruction are not that bad. The picture of the insert for the valance and canopy was sort of a guess. The concrete anchors for a block wall installation are 14mm, could not find a masonry bit that size so just had to Waller out a 1/2" hole. I installed 2 of these on the back of my home in Florida and they look and work great. Very pleased and only took about 1 1/2 hours each. Would not leave out in any decent winds but I'm sure all canopies are that way.
