I ordered this for my son. His house is a split foyer style. The only exit door on the top floor is through the sliding glass door that leads to the deck. Well, the deck doesn't have any stairs. Of course, he could jump, but I like the idea of this fire escape ladder better. He can use it off of the deck or with any of the top floor windows. It doesn't take a lot of room. It's very sturdy and durable. Plus it has a very high weight capacity.
