I use a lot of Roloc non woven disc for metal prep and rust removal on the cars I restore. These discs are a little different than I was expecting, but I think in the long run a pleasant surprise. The type I usually order are a layer of "Scotch Brite" style material on the Roloc plastic backing. These disc have a very stiff foam back behind the non-woven abrasive pad. The foam does have some give to it, but not as much as I was hoping for. I was hoping that they would conform more easily to the different nooks on aluminum casting so that I could use them to shine up motor and transmission housing. They do a great job of quickly taking down the oxidation and shining up the casings, but don't really get into the corners as deeply as I wanted. What I did find is that they wear much better than the style I have been using and last much longer. After suing a disc for about 15 mins it didn't look any different than when it was fresh out of the package. These may turn out to be my new go to for metal prep.

These are actually pretty coarse for a prep disc labeled "super fine". They work good for rust removal. They're pretty stiff, but they are pretty thick and last a good long time. They look like the stripping version with a finer weave pattern and they work about the same.
