Some of what we produce are white oak gun and fishing rod racks. We are constantly cutting or drilling holes. We usually run these on a CNC but from time to time we run them using forstner bits on a drill press. We were impressed by the results. The usual yield using the conventional bits is 75-150 holes before stopping and sharpening on a bench mount belt sander. Our yield from the 1st run on this bit was 491 holes with only 2 honing sessions using a diamond hone. One honing after about half the run. The other at the end of the run.Burning the hole and splintering when the bit exits are 2 problems we have with forstner bits as they begin to get dull. With this bit the last holes had no burning and splintering that was light enough it can be easily sanded out at the sanding tableI think this bit performed so well because the scoring tooth cuts deep enough that the carbide spade easily and quickly lifts the material up and out keeping the bit running cooler. Because there's less perimeter teeth to heat up, the entire bit runs much cooler than the saw-tooth or the solid edge perimeter designs and by significantly reducing heat, all the cutting edges stayed sharp longer

Not too shabby! Worked fine for some of the wife’s craft projects,. Used it to make some recesses in B2 Oak plywood. Nice, clean cuts. One caution- with a 3-1/8†diameter bit like this, one must seriously clamp the work piece very securely. Otherwise, things will not go well!

Needed to bore a 1 7/8 hole in a 2 inch thick slab of red oak. A conventional hole saw would not have been suited to this task. This forstner bit performed flawlessly. The wood will be used as a bathroom countertop, so no chipping was required. Result was spot-on.Time to now bore a hole to accept the drain for the vessel sink. I am moving up to a 2 1/4 size, have ordered the proper Nicavkit bit. I expect the same positive results.

Terrible bit. Pilot point is too short to actually work. Bit chatters like crazy while cutting.

Used for the first time last night. Was very sharp and cut cleanly. Time will tell how long it stays sharp.Came in a plastic case that will protect the bit. Will buy more as needed.Am using it to cut out the windows in the toy cars I am making and it made a very clean smooth cut in the car.
