The 500w de-icer is more powerful with built-in intelligent temperature control for containers up to approximately 100 gallons and can be thawed quickly to ensure your poultry always has water during the winter months.

So far this is keeping water thawed in my 20 gallon water tank. Temperatures have been as low as 18 degrees so far. I was using a 1500 watt floating heater but my goats kept catching it with their horns and pulling it out of the water.

Worked like a charm! Easily hooked up outside, the goats haven’t broken it yet after a month so I consider that a win. Look is basic, no rusting so far, lasted through our 7 degree nights. Kept the goats water just warm enough not to freeze.

Received item in new packaging and everything looked good. Put in my dogs 15 gallon water pale and turned it on . First night it worked great got down to 19 and the water did not freeze like it had been. The 3rd day I reached down to check the water temp with my hand and it shocked me good! I then unplugged it and took it out of the water and hung a heat lamp over the pale and it is working good. Not very well made to say the least....YOU have been warned this thing could kill you or your pet.

I like that it does not float and so far it is keeping the bird bath water from freezing. My old one, a different brand wanted to float and stopped working in our very cold weather. The local birds seem quite pleased to have a water source. We have had cold weather in the teens and 20's.

This is a replacement for one that shorted out. It appears to be a better made device and is operating as expected.
