This is a stainless steel butter slicer. You could also use it to slice cheese for a cheese platter. Mine didn't look all shiny and smooth like their pictures showed. It had some scratches and looked a bit older. Like it might have been used. However, with all that said, it did cut well and made my life easier while making the apple cobblers and pies. I gave it a 4 because its appearance didn't look new. Otherwise, it is a great tool to have in the kitchen.
