Used 2 of these under an emergency blanket to keep outdoor shower pipes from freezing......worked great....lows in the teens in Texas for 5 days. However, we live in a metal barndominium...which the metal I was hoping & thinking would conduct the heat. It's an "at your own risk" solution if you live in South. The shower is also fast southwest so it wasn't in direct line of north weather.

I don’t use this for pipes. My gym equipment is in my garage which isn’t heated. During the winter my barbell gets dangerously cold to use (skin sticks to it). I use this on a timer to warm up the bar prior to my workout so I don’t peel the skin off my hands. Full length Velcro makes it easy versus other brands that require you wrap it then secure it with tape/zipties.

Very simple pipe heat blanket. Feels cheaper and thinner than I thought it would. It does get warm and seems to be working, but I am using this indoors, so I couldn't comment on how well it might work outdoors in extreme cold conditions. Will update if anything changes.

I actually purchased this for my brother in law to wrap around his weight bar to warm it up before he works out. He has had great compliments about this product and what he is using for it.

This seemingly well-made “Water Pipe Heat Blanket†did not reach a temperature higher than107 degrees F. I tested it several times and I had it plugged into different outlets (which were all working). I had just tested a different water pipe blanket and the thermometer itself worked well. Bummer. I guess I get to send it back—oh joy of joys. However, I really need a working pipe blanket!

1.75†diameter is the upper limit of what this will reach around, and then you will need to tape it to get it to stay. it is really designed for 1.5†diameter and smaller. While it doesn’t appear to have a thermostat, the seller claims that it will adjust the heat level based upon the ambient temperature. All I know is that I tested it indoors and it turned on even at 60-65 degrees F. Under these conditions, it produced a gentle persistent distributed heat throughout the pad. It did not get hot to the touch on the inside or outside. Based upon this observation, it should not damage plastic or pex pipes, though defer to the seller’s advice if you are uncertain.

I have a 1.5 inch spa hose I needed to keep from freezing . I thought this would be big enough since it says 7 inches wide. It only makes it halfway around though, so I had to opt to put it on the side and tape it in place.I like that it's in a blanket already no messing with wrapping wires on a pipe much faster installationIt doesn't look like it has any real insulation just the mylar film on a canvas backing similar to a grow tent. It will help hold heat when it's on, But when it's off it will cool quickly to outside temp. So I added insulation on top of everything. It could be improved for larger pipes.
