My original condensate trap died and I used this to replace it. It only took a little "refactoring" to install it. Really, it wasn't hard at all. I was about to call an HVAC person to do the work, but I'm sure I'd end up paying but $ for a relatively simple task.I like the fact you can see through the tubes. It has nifty access points in three spots. Along with the brush they give you, it will be easy to keep things clean. Highly recommended.

Super easy install. Clear trap and cleaner brush is a wonderful idea. Works great.

If you bought this, you’ve experienced a clog drain line or two. You would either have to try to suck or flush it out, or even cut your pipe to resolve the issue. With this, there is easy visible access to the trap and it can be cleaned easily. It seems well made with so far, but there are more failure point with this than a typical trap. So you might trade convenience of cleaning vs reliability. Only time will tell, but this is a slam dunk for 16 dollars.

Some states require these inline traps on the AC overflow line, and some don't. There are at least 2 reasons (imo) to have one- they allow you to actually see that the water can flow freely away from your overflow pan (it's really common for them to get clogged), AND it prevents any harmful gases (or just smells) to creep back in the overflow line when there's no water in it. Just make sure to have a little bit of angle going towards the out direction. It already has a slight height difference, but angling will help (not much, just a few degrees).

This should be part of the installation of every attic mounted (or any other location) AC air handling unit. It is inevitable that debris from the condensate pan will settle into the trap in the condensate drain and eventually cause it to become clogged. The result is one of two outcomes; if you have a high water level sensor on the auxiliary condensate drain, it will shut the AC unit off, and if you don't, the condensate pan will overflow onto the ceiling drywall below. This Condensate trap is a simple but brilliant design, that lets you see the clog and and clean it out before the trap becomes blocked and bad things happen. 5 stars.
