This small in line exhaust fan moves a decent amount of air for it's size. It functions exactly how you expect pull in one side blows out the other. The speed control is built into the 110v outlet plug cable. The noise level is not too bad until you reach full power then it's pretty loud by comparison to high dollar version of the same style fan. I found the more solid you could mount the housing the less noise it made but, you have to become inventive since it has virtually no mounting locations. Value for the money is this, it's cheap and thusly made that way however it's great on a tight budget and does do the job. How you use this has a multitude of options however if you plan on using it in a bathroom you'll have to pipe yourself thru a attic and put this in line which makes the speed control useless practically. As for a garage use sure stick it thru a wall but remember it's not water proof so you're again going to have to become an inventer to make it work exactly. Overall all this is just a grow tent cheap exhaust fan with few other real world options. So unless you're a "grower" there's not a lot of other uses that are practical.

We build grow rooms. We use brand name inline fans as a baseline. I know they hold up well. They integrate well into the tent control systems. This fan is not that. This fan plugs into 110VAC and the speed can be controlled by a dial.I think this would be a great bathroom exhaust fan, or fan for any space in a house. The dial can be set, and would only need changed seasonally, or at changes of the weather. The system could then just be plugged into a switched outlet (or for improv, just a power strip with a switch). If you're a poor college student and can't afford an off the shelf tent, and a fancy controller, but you still need an exhaust fan for your cobbled-together tent, and you can't afford a fancy one, this is your 4" inline fan. It works with standard 4" dryer hose you can get at the big-box hardware store. Use hose clamps, or zip-ties, but if you use zip ties, go double. We mounted it to a piece of plywood and put it across the top of our tent, mostly out of sight, and direct earshot. It's not as quiet as the fans with the bulge, but its tolerable, especially if it's all you can afford. It's not as heavy, but is not a load bearing member, so that's mostly ok.This fan is just a 110V inline fan with a dial controller. Nothing else. But, it works well, and it can move some air on the higher speeds (when it gets a little noisy). If this fan cost a lot more, I'd expect a lot more. The fans I get cost a lot more, but they do a lot more. For a basic 4" inline fan with speed controller, at this price, you can't but give it five stars. If it fails, or the performance degrades, I'll update my review. Until then, I fully endorse this fan: 5 stars

This is a good budget inline fan. This is not the highest quality fan, but it does the job and it is light weight. The controller works good and allows you to lower the speed and noise level.

I'm using this as an exhaust for a resin printer and it does the job well. It's nice and quiet when it's turn down but it gets a little noisy when it's on full blast, but it's not outrageously loud.Nice and easy plug in and dial to turn on and control the output level. Overall, it's a good value for the hobby level I'm operating at.

I used this to build an air filtering system for my laser cutter. It looks good and feels well made. It moves a good amount of air at full tilt so I don't always need to have it turned all the way up. At full blast it is fairly noisy, but since it will reside in my garage it doesn't bother me. I ran it through a few jobs and it was able to pull air out of my laser enclosure and through my filter box easily. It does what I need it to do and I'm happy with it.

The speed controller makes it super easy to get just the right airflow, and really helped us fine tune the right amount of fog for our display. It was easy to install and it moves the air pretty well for its size. This fan is for a duct vent in my shed, so the remote is helpful, but it’s louder than I’d like when working out there. Love this.

While not a conventional use, we use this fan to push fog machine smoke through a flexible dryer hose for some outdoor holiday displays, and it works great for our alternate use.The speed controller makes it super easy to get just the right airflow, and really helped us fine tune the right amount of fog for our display. We did end up 3D printing an adapter for a better fit to our hose, but that's certainly not the fault of the fan, and was a easy fix for any real DIY builder.
