I am using these to reinforce kitchen cabinet doors made of wood. The doors consist of panels with an outer frame, and the frames have not withstood the test of time. The glue used originally has failed; the doors are sagging and won't close properly. I'm planning to re-glue, and install these on the interior side of each corner to provide support while re-gluing. I will leave them in place to reduce stress on the glue joints, and as backup if the glue fails again. These can provide reinforcement for joining two pieces of wood in cabinets or cabinet doors. The screws provided are good quality, but check the length (about 1/2 inch) to make sure the tips will not protrude. If in doubt, use shorter screws. Btoth the screws and the plates are made out of a non-magnetic stainless steel alloy. To protect them during shipping, there is a very thin blue adhesive film. The film itself is fairly easy to remove, but streaks of adhesive are left on the front surface of the steel plates; these are easily mistaken for scratches. The streaks are resistant to most detergents and alcohol, I discovered that Nature's Miracle 3 in 1 Odor Destroyer, available at most supermarkets and pet stores, will dissolve the streaks. To remove the residue, spray the solution onto the plate, wait about 30 to 60 seconds, and wipe off with a paper towel. If neFor maximum strength, these could be attached to more than one side of a joint, in which case glue might not be needed.Although some stainless steel is weakly magnetic, the screws plates and the screws provided are made out of a non-magnetic stainless steel alloy. Even a strong neodymium magnet doesn't stick to them.

Sizes to feature application is very important and having the screw holes already beveled into a thicker plate makes a very good product for mini projects and beefing up oh ones. Good product.

I’m a chick— new to wood working and bracing, but wanted something to connect some of the wood I have so I didn’t waste any wood from other projects— these technically hold the wood together, but don’t come with screws— so you have to get the proper screws for it— and then once used as a connection, still buckles or moves because it’s in a square pattern. For connecting two pieces of wood, make sure to get something that the screws are not in a straight line, because things will move. Probably should add that to description.

So the mending plates are fine but the side that faces out is covered in all this odd blue plastic that isnt easy to get off. I reordered and the new ones came covered in the same plastic but even more of it covering the surface. Maybe its to protect the surface but they still seem a bit scratched up looking. Be prepared to take some time to remove this plastic stuff off your plates.

These were much more cost effective than what Home Depot had to offer, and I found they were very much sturdy enough to hold all the seconds of my DIY headboard together. They were sturdy and not flexible. I recommend these!
