I obtained these mending plates to use on my model railroad for connecting plywood roadbed base to another section. Normally, I would use a small piece of plywood or 1 x 3 wood. However, I have some tracks that are directly above the lower track and need minimum clearance. These mending plates worked perfectly, I attached to each end of adjoining roadbeds and attached with some flat head screws.I would have given these 5 stars if not for the fact that no fasteners were supplied.

These are really heavy duty and solid. I needed decorative braces for a barn door I was building and they needed to be sturdy enough to stabilize the slats and hold the door hardware on the rail. I am very impressed!

The brackets seem sturdy and well made. However, the holes are NOT countersunk, despite the description clearly stating that they are, so the screw heads protrude from the back.

These are excellent mending plates but they will not resist bending torque very well. Most mending plates are not designed for that, so I did not take any points off. I am using these to connect shelf planks to make longer and deeper shelves. For that application these are excellent, and I have ordered another set.These look great, and are at a decent price. Indeed, to get a comparable set at the local box store will cost twice as much.
