I purchased these in the very beginning of getting in to leather-working. I had no idea what type of tools I needed, how to use them, or what they were even used for, so I spent a pretty long time doing research on my own, finding out exactly what I needed to get myself started. Once I learned what chisels were and what they were meant for, I looked over MANY different chisels and brands. Hey, getting in to leather working can get pretty expensive really fast with all the tools and other items you need to start up!I noticed these because they had pretty good reviews and they looked as though they'd serve me well for what I needed them for.I wanted to wait for about a month and a half before reviewing these because I wanted to see how well they held up and how sharp the tips stayed. I have to say, these are a really good value and have yet to let me down! They make hole punching a breeze and the blades are still as sharp as the day I received them. I'm impressed! They have a pretty solid weight to them, so that right there demonstrates quality immediately to me.Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase, and if I had to go back in time and re-order a chisel set, I'd still have picked these! Especially starting out with leather working. Obviously they're not the highest priced and highest ranked chisels, but they definitely are well deserving of 5 stars. I wouldn't hesitate at all to recommend these to anyone looking for a set of chisels. They also arrived very quickly and nicely packaged!

I was on the fence about purchasing this item. I was worried about the quality of the steel and the tendency of it to break during my work because this set is offered at such a low price point. I am also the owner of Tandy Leather's similar metal stitching prongs which are nice, but much more expensive, close to $30+ for a single size (mm) of just one of the prongs (2,4,6,8, your choice of 1). As you can imagine, a set of those racks up a hefty bill in a hurry. Because of the crazy price point of the alternative, I purchased this set which seems like a steal (hence my concern).I couldn't be happier. There's no noticeable difference in the quality of the tool as compared with the way over priced alternative. Each of these prongs have a good heft to it and a sharp effective edge for making short work of even thick leather. The only difference I can tell between these and over priced alternatives are the quality of the finish on the handles. However, that finish doesn't aid the tool in helping me punch holes like it is intended to be used for, so it's a very negligible point in my opinion, but the difference is there all the same.I can't give these tools 5 stars because I haven't done my part in putting them up to the test of time. I do leatherwork as a hobby, not as a living, so they're not going to be put to that test of time in any near foreseeable future. All the same, if these tools happen to fail, become dull, or quit functioning properly for any reason at all, I can replace the set for less than 1/2 of what it'd cost to buy a single piece of the alternative. To me that is an extremely valuable and competitive option in the market. I'll be a repeat customer for all my following prong sizing difference needs without a doubt. Thank you to the seller who finally offered a reasonably priced tool with great quality and met all my expectations.-Parker

For a hobbyist leather worker, this was a great way to get a couple decent tools at a good price. They have done the job on every piece of leather I've tried, and I didn't even need to sharpen them out of the package.

id recommend these guys. a little rough but i polished them up and they perform way above their price would suggest. not the nicest but not far from it. the prong are not totally huge like on some cheapies.
