I received the sluice box very quickly (Colombia), and the box it was packed in protected it very well during the trip.Upon opening it, I found a sluice box of very good quality, with excellent finishes. I had read that some had sharp edges, but mine is perfectly polished and finished.Everything fits together perfectly, and it's very easy to assemble.I just have one question: What is the purpose of the two screws attached to the center of the middle part?Should a wing nut be used on them?I'm very happy with my purchase. I hope to find lots of gold and create unforgettable moments!

So prospecting and using different sluices and highbankers over the years, I’m looking to find one that is easily transportable. This one is nice however I’m not keen on the loose intake that is not connected when you fold it together as well as happening to either pocket the two thumb screws to reconnect or replacing it inside, causing an opportunity for them to fall out. It’s pretty decent for trapping gold with the mat and it’s long enough to allow you at the right flow water and material to capture as much as you can. I like to use it with my other sluices and a reduction as I’m recirculating water for classifying. If you’re just taking it by itself, it’ll definitely do the job be careful and don’t lose the thumb screws as they are crucial and putting it all together. There are probably going to be a few modifications that I’m going to make to it as just the little black strap that screwed in is kind of ambiguous but for caring it that’s OK.

I just got one yesterday and set it up with a temporary recirculating water system. There are a few issues with this sluice like other comments have said, mine shipped without wingnuts ( nothing major ), the overall fit of the different sized pieces leave big gaps that gold will drop out of, the feeding end if not set fully down has holes along the side where the pivot point is thus leaving a huge riffle before the material even gets to the black mat, after finding some spare wing nuts and tightening the pivot points I found just picking up the sluice will fold it easily at those points thus I'm saying if any weight is applied ( like concentrate or rocks ) and the sluice isn't set upon a sturdy object at those pivot ponits as to keep them from moving , you will loose gold out of the bottom of the sluice. I had to drill 2 holes below the factory ones at each pivot point and add bolts. Not at all saying this is a bad product, on my 1st use it caught fine gold, however the black mat needs a bit of tweaking along with the miners moss and carpet after the black mat especially in my opinion. Most of the issues are easily resolved yet take away from the quick and easy set up.

This is exactly what we were looking for. A sluice that was lightweight, that we could carry while hiking into the back country. We've been involved in gold panning, and gem hunting for many years and collected a lot of prospecting equipment, however, we are in our senior years now and it's time to downsize, and still enjoy our hobby. This simple little sluice made of heavy aluminium is very nice, and would be a good purchase for the beginner too! Thumbs up!!

Haven't found much with it yet. Few flakes here and there. Good for throwing in a big backpack and hiking it in.

This arrived well packed in a sturdy box & got delivered with no damages. This is fairly lightweight which is good when you have enough already to lug to a spot next to water to sift thru. This is not as big as what most regular prospectors use, but it is good enough for those of us getting started or to use as a secondary device. Compared to what the “big boys” use, this is definitely offered at a great price, which is good when you are starting out & building up your tools — which can cost a small fortune (lol).A friend much more advanced looked this over & thought it was really fantastic for the cost. We’ve pulled it out & looked it over & he’ll likely take us thru the paces & show us the ins & outs. Typically he comes back paying for his trip plus enough for the next trip — so we have much to look forward to. This unit seems well built, it folds back easy enough, we didn’t get harmed playing with it, and I appreciate that it’s fairly simple. Our friend will let us borrow other things as we learn the ins & outs. This is approved by a seasoned prospector, and we’d order it again.

I am no gold miner but i got this for the occasional beach trip or hike. It is pretty light and folds up to a manageable size, runs material just fine, and capture a tiny bit of gold my first time out.
