The 6 1/2-inch stem on this shed door latch made it possible for me to use this type of handle for our newly built shed, the builder built the doors in an unusual way the left me with 5 3/8 inches of double trim, siding and the long side of a 2 x 4 to drill through to attach a door handle. This is a common type of handle for sheds, and they're readily available at the big box stores with 4 1/2 stems, but those wouldn't work in my situation, but this one does. Good quality, easy installation (after drilling the 5 3/8-inch hole) and works like a charm. I'm glad someone made this extended stem handle available at a reasonable price. Thanks!

The extra length for my shed worked out great. As I had a very thick reinforced door. I settled for this kind of handle because I could not find the kind that I imagine is exclusive to Home Depot. That is a handle that has a latch when it closes. That’s for sure how any of these are for security. I imagine they could be pride into pretty easily With a long bar in the handle . I might add an extra Padlock just to make it a little more difficult. As we all know, locks Just slow people down, but usually can be broken into.

I shimmed the door with a piece of 2x4 so the attach point of the shed was the same thickness as the shed wall. Fits perfect after doing that.

Very happy with this purchase. Easy to install. Lubricated lock mechanism with graphite first thing so key would go in easier. Works great and looks and works much better than the hasp and padlock I was using before.
