We purchased a '96 Ram 1500 as a project/work truck. Most of it has been completed and now we're working on the exterior paint. When we got it, it had a DYI paint job, over the original white color, with lime green tractor paint. It was really thick in some places and much thinner in others, so removing it has been quite a process. We started by using an orange based paint stripper. It did take off a lot of paint, but the paint was so thick and uneven we needed to get more aggressive. That's when I started looking for something to grind off the remaining paint, and I found these paint stripper discs.These attach to our 4" angle grinder without any issues.As you can see from the pics, the discs are working to remove the paint down to the metal. They leave some light swirl marks on the metal, but the metal surface feels smooth to the touch. These light swirls should not affect the final finish of the paint. The paint is coming off unevenly because it is thicker in some areas and not because of the performance of the discs.We have used about 3 of these discs, so far and most of the truck looks like the pics. The discs do seem pretty durable. You can see the before and after in the pictures. The used discs still have a bit of life in them, but switching to a new one works better. Based on how these discs performed and how much paint is left to remove, it will probably take another 3 to 6 discs to get the truck down to bare metal. Even if it takes more than 12 discs, it's still an economical way to get the job done.Note: The rust in the pics on the bare metal formed AFTER the paint was removed. We've had a lot of rain here which interrupted our stripping project, and the truck is parked outside.My hubby is very happy with the performance of these paint stripper discs, and I'm very happy with the price. They remove the paint easily without damaging the metal and the price doesn't break the bank. The retail price for this set of discs, at the time of this review, is $18.99, or $3.17 per disc, which is currently the best deal on Amazon. We'll definitely be ordering more of these as needed to complete our project. We recommend! My rating: FIVE STARS.

I use these for cleaning up surfaces prior to welding.. mostly steel (NOT ALUMINUM) and some stainless steel.These work well for scrubbing up the surface rust on steel elements (truck frames, trailer stringers, etc), though they are not as long lasting as I had hoped. But maaaaybe I lean-in a little too much ;-)For the price, this is a nice 6-pack. I have not used them to remove paint but I will get the chance soon.. so I will update this review as necessary.

I use these for stripping paint off of metal and getting rid of mill scale before painting. I tested this out by stripping off Mill scale on about a foot of some box tube and deburring the end after a fairly sloppy cut on my bandsaw. One thing I noticed versus the cheaper ones that I've tried in the past is that it didn't seem too shut off really large chunks of metal from the grinding disc while I was deburring the ends of the box tube. That's a common problem I've had with a lot of the grinding wheels out there, is large chunks flying off and getting embedded into my clothing. When I go inside they fall off my clothing and then I step on them later when I don't have shoes on. Definitely wear full face protection when using any kind of grinding wheel like this because the shards from the grinding wheel can fly off at very high speed and hit you in the face. That said this fared pretty well in my quick test. I didn't have any practical work coming up for the next week and I wanted to get a review up before I forget about it.You can see in the photos the finish I was able to get on the box tube and how little of the wheel was degraded after the fact. I could not find any large chunks of the wheel missing after the test. I will definitely put these through their paces when the weather warms up a little bit and I get back to welding. Please do feel like a step up over the harbor freight ones which disintegrate pretty quickly. That's a win in my book.

If you're looking at these, you likely already know what they are for. They bolt to grinders, (These are 4" so they fit anything 4" and larger) The clean up everything from steel, wood, tile...almost everything. They are a bit abrasive, so you need to be careful if you're using it on softer metals or woods, it will damage the surface. They aren't specifically designed to take off metal, but they will, so be careful! I love these for preparing to weld or for cleaning up after welding. It takes off splatter or slag with ease. Great product.

These paint stripper discs work great! They were a huge help in removing paint and rust from my trailer in preparation for repainting. Durable and efficient, they make tough jobs much easier. Highly recommended!

These work, though they are not as durable as I expected for something described as "long lasting". They are pretty good at removing paint without damaging the underlying metal much.
