Our agar recipe has been crafted over the last several years to provide nutrient content perfect for finding rhizomorphic growth for most varieties of mushrooms. Within 3 transfers most growers are able to grow ropey isolates using our 4% nutritional content agar!

Potato broth - Nutrients for strong growth
We source our potato extract from a lab grade media company, ensuring high purity meaning our material comes out a clear smooth consistency; no nutrition clumps, no cloudy material, and no impurities.
Yeast extract - Helps your growth turn rhizomorphic quickly
Yeast extract has been shown to favor rhizomorphic growth on agar, giving you a better opportunity to transfer isolate material faster compared to working with fluffy growth. We use lab grade yeast extract produced here in the US meaning no heavy metals, no cutting agents, and no live yeast going into our agar.
Dextrose blend - Faster, stronger growth
Our blend of sugars means more bioavailability for your mycelium. More bioavailability means faster and stronger growth! Having a variety of sugars to utilize gives your mycelium more of a range to consume and grow with, ensuring solid growth from start to finish.
Gelidium Agar - For high gel consistency
Our recipe uses gelidium agar powder from a scientific media company in the US. We are able to pour at a specific geling strength for our material because we use quality agar powder, meaning no mushy material and no material that's difficult to cut or separate.

Our cups ship shrink wrapped then vacuum packed, ensuring sterility from us to you! Find a bad cup in your pack? Send us an email and we'll replace the whole package free of charge! Our failure rate is less than .001%, on par with traditional petri dishes. Our sample cup agar is a much more efficient way to conduct agar work compared to petri dishes however, lacking the traditional need for cumbersome wrapping and rewrapping between transfers and growing cycles. Just click the top off, add your material, then click the top shut, that's it! Using our agar for grain or liquid cultures? Just click the top off, pinch the sides, flick the bottom, and your agar is in your new material! No need to cut the material up and transfer it over piece by piece risking failure! I ordered their 15 agar cups and when they arrived, I discovered that two were damaged during shipping and one was contaminated. I simply sent an email along with a photo, and customer service sent a very nice reply and apology stating replacements would be in the mail. While I was waiting I used some of the other cups to test some liquid cultures from syringes I was using for my mycology hobby. The agar worked perfectly. The cups were easy to use and they have a nice airtight seal or fit. I never had to use any tape. Within 8 days, I had my replacement agar cups and they were in perfect condition. I'm happy to find a company that stands behind their product and does it with courtesy and professionalism. I'll gladly purchase from Booming Acres again. I highly recommend them!

I highly recommend them to anyone who wants a 90 to 95 percent chance of no contamination without a flow hood.

I received these and put them into the fridge right away. A couple of days later I used five of them, a couple of weeks later I used another five, and 2 weeks after that I used another five.Not. One. Issue. Beautifully clean agar plates. Totally sterile and produced aggressive mycilial growth. I was actually skeptical but the results speak for themselves. They ship quickly, they have a quality product at a reasonable price. There's no reason for me to make my own Petrie dishes anymore. These people have a customer in me forever.

Flawless agar in easy to use cups. I have had 0 contamination issues. My first order had a damaged cup in it(presumablyfrom the mailman)and they sent me a new order immediately. This is now my go to for easy agar.

Honestly, this is a solid product. If you're new to microbiology or just want to experiment and don't know how to pour your own agar this is the place for you. 13/15 had amazing results in a short period of time. Two came with contam inside which is honestly better than most. These guys are good.''

These are poured as thinly as they thought they could get away with, so thin you can bairly see the color in the green ones. And 2 of the green ones fell apart and are unusable, packaging was not damaged. It's also to wet humidity and fluid everywhere can't see through the never ending humidity droplets on the lid.Email to them has so far been ignored.The thickness of the green media in the ad photo is about 3x thick as you actually get. Blue and red are slightly better at 2xNo free returns, buyer beware.
