I needed to replace both of my thermostats on my 2004.5 Chevy Silverado 2500HD with the LLY 6.6 diesel engine. Not to hard of a job to do just a little time consuming because it's good to flush and replace the Dexcool coolant at the same time. You need both thermostats....180 & 185 degrees to do the job right. Truck runs like it should and the heater too. They should be changed at least every 100k miles or sooner it you are having problems.

This is the front thermostat in the trucks thermostat housing 185 deg. Like other reviews have said it's a little tricky to replace but with about 1 1/2 hours and a little care it can be done by the average mechanical person. As in other reviews I considered removing the air conditioner compressor for better access but in the end only removed one bolt. It took a little time to get the air out of the system, unlike other reviews I didn't fine a bleeder screw on top of the housing. Because my truck is mostly run in warmer temperatures I was unaware I had a problem until I got a code for lower than expected engine temps. Now that I look at the engine temp I do see to come to temp quicker and run's right at the normal temp.

Easy enough to install. Exactly what I was expecting. My old thermostats were stuck open and these new thermostats helped solved my problem.

If you’re looking to save money, this product works perfectly. Guess we’ll see how long it lasts but it (they) sure look like top notch thermostats to me. Identical to the ones I replaced which were factory installed.

Drop in, OEM, replacement for my 2005 2500HD Duramax. Fit perfectly and no issues.Make sure you grab this guy too if you have a Duramax Diesel: I can attest that they have two thermostats. And with how time consuming/tedious it is to replace one, you might as well replace both even if you think it's only one. The Factory Service Manual instructs the tech to replace both at the same time.

and also twice cheaper then local dealer parts store. Took about 1 hour to replace it. You also need about 1 gallon of dex cool to top it
